Duetto radio Empty Duetto radio

Post by abmnw Thu Sep 18, 2014 8:56 am

Hi all, I've had a search thru here but can't find the answer! How do I by-pass the inbuild amplifier?  (Got a '96 Duetto with the original radio/cassette). I've bought a wiring harness that's supposed to let me do this but I can't find where I need to plug it in to - I'm assuming that there's a connection on the amp that I need to remove & fit to the harness but the only cable I can see is a flat grey cable with a flat connector (the other end is plugged into the back of the radio).

Any help much appreciated content

Thanks

Hi fellow Duetto owner. I had the same problem with my Duetto when I removed the Ford radio casete player. My friendly auto electrician adapted a loom for a modern Ford by-passing the amplifier at the same time. Fitting the loom and programing the radio took a Saterday morning and a fiver for the tea fund up! . If it is done properly you should get the front door speakers and rear speakers working correctly with good sound quality in the font and back. Another bonus of the Ford system, it stays on for more the pre set time on Pugs etc. tap_fingers

Sorted!! Took the amp out, didn't earlier as looked a pain to do & was feeling lazy lol, which turned out to be a 10 min job.

Bought correct adapter cable off EBay for about £6 & fitted all back together & works!! All done in under an hour & a much neater job than having to cut & join wires etc.

up! Glad to hear you got the radio sorted. As I said we tried to find an adaptor loom for mine but taking the word of a competent auto electrician the loom in mine  would not match any adapters they had seen before.I had to agree with them
because the loom colours for both rear speakers we identical. We think my Transit was built as a Turano, the German spec mini bus. All the electrics like the alternator is Bosh, the fuel pump is Bosh not Lucas EPIC.
Once my van comes back we will be fitting new front door speakers. The original ones rattle if you set the fade too much to the front. tap_fingers
