creases in ceiling??
Hope I don't sound a bit mad but sitting on the loo and looking up at the ceiling (as you do sometimes) I notice that the creasing around the roof light and a little around the ceiling seams appear to have got a bit worse. Its like when you put sticky back covering on and don't quite get it right. I think there always was a bit but I am really not sure if its my imagination or if its got worse in which case should I be concerned? Is it likely to be caused by heat or even be a sign of some damp?
Any thoughts appreciated.
I will try to attach some pics to show what I mean (of view looking up at roof light from the toilet)
Thanks Happy Helen

Re: creases in ceiling??
Your excellent photos, Happyhelen, prompted me to look at the inside of the roof in our Clubman's loo. And to my considerable surprise, I found similar creases. Here's a photo. I'd not noticed that before, in all the 16+ years we've had the Clubman. I don't think it's significant - possibly just differential stretching and contraction of the interior roofing fabric. I hope it's merely cosmetic.
By the way, fellow-Cardiffian, that's a cracking photo of 3 Cliffs / Pwlldu which you have as an avatar. I'd be very proud to have taken that.

Re: creases in ceiling??
as mentioned above the covering has contracted. Have seen it on lots of vehicles, nothing to worry about.
Originally it would be glued to the plywood but over time the covering has contracted and the plywood kept its shape.
I have found when it does it round roof vents, remove the vent surround then carefully use a hairdryer or hot air gun on the affected area which will stretch/expand the covering back to its original shape.

Thanks very much for your advice, jt2011 - which is clearly based on experience.
For my part, it's reassuring to know that the distortion is indeed only cosmetic - and a bonus to know that it can be made good.

Thanks for the reassurance. I had noticed a bit initially but as it seemed to have got worse I was a little concerned but happier now!

I think you'll find its a bit of 'body-movement', there are two surfaces here, the outer body shell & the inner roof lining.
Initially, everything SEEMS to be stiff & tight, but in actual fact it all moves a bit, maybe a mm or two, remember, these 'aint cars, they,re basically 'trucks' with agricultural suspension & 'bang' about on the bumps!!
So as we rock & roll along, everything twists a bit & surfaces rub together, the wood & plastic bits wont shift, but the soft surface films will, thus causing little creases.
I proved this as although my monocoque SEEMS rigid, when parked on my sloping drive one way, the hab door binds in it opening, park someplace else & its perfick!!

Re: creases in ceiling??
Funny if the covering has contracted then I would have anticipated the material to be splitting due to it being over tight, have i missed something?
