I currently have a 1997 VW GL Cubman I like the fact that the living area is one whole glass fibre cabin.

I am now considering going for a AS Bourton can anyone tell me how they are put together ie seems and mastic etc.

"Full GRP Body with Scratch & Impact Resistant Platinum Sides" is what it says on the Auto-Sleepers website.

AS are able to make the Styrofoam laminated panels themselves to which are fitted GRP roof and rear panels. It allows them to vary body design quickly.

The monocoque shells were made for AS by Cheltenham Laminates
The benefit of in house panel manufacture is flexibility on body design.
No need to cover the cost of patterns and moulds before you start.

Early examples the Ravena and Pescara models were put out at a lower manufacturing cost on Ford and Peugeot chassis _ if these had been monocoques the costs would have been prohibitive for four models which were basically one (just interior and habition door variations).

If you want a users plus - the Styrofoam body shells keep you warmer than the monocoques
