AS ford Duetto passenger seat too high?!
Hi,
Looking to possibly get an autosleeper ford duetto (mk 6 or 7). Had a sit in the passenger seat and at 6 foot, my hair is just touching the cab ceiling. Can anyone tell me if the height can be altered in any way? Can the swivel unit be replaced with one that still swivels but adds less overall height to the seat? Any comments / solutions would be most welcome!

Re: AS ford Duetto passenger seat too high?!
This sounds a bit odd. I have had two Duettos, one on a MK 5 and one on a MK 7 Transit and on neither vehicle has my head come anywhere near the ceiling; both vans have had swivelling seats as fitted by AS. I am 5ft 10in and my hair is normal for my age.
On both vans the drivers seat had height adjustment, but not the passenger seat, so a question is, have you checked to see if the passenger seat has been modified to include adjustment?
I don't know if seat swivels come in different heights, but I do suggest a call to Leisure Shop Direct and ask them if they can supply a lowered version [You must be registered and logged in to see this link.]

Re: AS ford Duetto passenger seat too high?!
Hi there,
Family legend has it that my Mum burst into tears when the midwife showed me to her on the basis that I was "deformed" with a long back and short legs.
When I grew up the "deformity" continued and from the waist up I should be about 6'4"; but I can sit okay in "Petal" a 1998 Duetto.
I don't know of any company that makes a lower seat, but may I make the suggestion that you try reclining the seat a few degrees? It can make a whole lot of difference as to how high your head goes and Duettos are brilliant vans.
Hope this helps.
Best regards,

Our Mk7 Tranny has a height adjustment on the drivers seat. I find if anything the adjustment lacks in the upward movement rather than the downward. I can set it fine for me at 5' 7 1/2" in old money
There is a guy answered your post on the MMM site who is 6' 1" who says he never had any problems

I thought the passenger seat was low in a Duetto. That's the old 90 version.

Might be worth giving Tony Sugg a call at Wyvern Seating as mentioned here.....

Hi Guys,
Many thanks for all your replies so far.
It was a lunch time quick 'look-see'..from your comments I need to take some more time to have a play, adjust recline, make sure I can see out comfortably etc etc. I really like the layout of the duetto and don't think I've given it a fair enough crack of the whip!
The aim it to try and get one in the autumn so it's lots of research and no doubt they'll be lots more questions 'till then
Many thanks,
Pusscat

Re: AS ford Duetto passenger seat too high?!
We initially found the passenger seat on our Boxer based Pollensa a bit high for me, seemed to be missing part of the panoramic view especially with the overcab bulkhead coming forward overhanging windscreen. We found a source for a replacement seat box to replace the standard version. I removed the passenger seat and swivel mechanism, replaced the base and reassembled. We used this for a couple of trips, however I then found the new sitting position too low for my long legs so we ended up reverting to the original set-up and the lower height box is now sitting in the garage awaiting a new home ...
