Warwick has a dirty roof !!!
I have just been up the step ladders to clean the roof, armed with mop and sponge and a car shampoo and gave it a clean,i then washed it down with a hose pipe.
The water settles in puddles on the roof so i dried it as much as possible.
Is it ok to get onto the roof,or would that be a bad idea ?
If anyone has any suggestions as to an easier way to clean it that would be helpful,
Richard

Re: Warwick has a dirty roof !!!
I would advise against getting onto the van roof or indeed placing anything heavier than a bucket of water for cleaning. Having owned several different panel vans other than motorhomes, I know that van roofs are not particularly strong and deform/dent easily. With all the various assemblies on a motorhome roof such as vents and roof lights, any deformation could compromise your watertight integrity. And don't be tempted to use a power hose, the roof vents are not designed to withstand that degree of water pressure.
I access my Symbol roof with a high, stable step ladder and haven't had any problems, though the area above the windscreen is tricky. Since the Warwick has a lower roof I'm guessing you may not have that problem.

Re: Warwick has a dirty roof !!!
Before I read this I went on our Warwick Duo roof to clean it. I accessed it from our flat garage roof as it is at about the same height and a safer access that way as I backed the Warwick right up to the roof using the reversing camera.
I trod carefully mindful of weak points and on the whole I think all is OK but as suggested there are areas that are a somewhat vulnerable. I got down on all fours which helped spread the load.
Telescopic cleaning brushes will only reach so far and won't treat difficult to reach areas or corners which need to be done by hand.
Perhaps I might seek to spread the load more next time but its not easy to do. Step ladders at that height could be a safety risk.
I agree I definitely wouldn't pressure wash.

Re: Warwick has a dirty roof !!!
Hi , I cannot see why anyone would take any risk to clean a roof that is not seen except by helicopter pilots, and double decker bus passengers.
These roofs soon get dirty. Mine is not perfectly flat ,so water collects in the dips.
Mine was covered all winter, but a few weeks after the cover came off its dirty.
The sides need polish for water stains and the bumper needed another coat of Forever Black.
regards
Mike

I too had difficulty 'up there', so I bought this:

Very light, assembled in a couple of mins, shown is only half of it, it goes up double that, & handy for other diy jobs.

That's the best answer mm, crawling around on the roof is very dangerous its a long way to fall.
