Water ingress on Topaz
Just noticed water stains on the roof lining of my 2001 Topaz, this was after a night in a gale force wind with torrential rain. The stains are on the left hand side and correspond to the position of the Fiamma awning. I was wondering how this is fixed on, and if the water could have got through any mounting holes. A quick inspection showed a line of mouldy looking silicon sealant between the awning casing and the van roof, looks a bit of a botch job. Anyone have any experience of this problem? I will be removing the awning when it finally stops raining but have no idea how to do this yet.

Have you checked your upper windows, I had the nearside one with a bit of damp , had mobile MH repairer , he took out the window cleaned area and refitted window and resealed,

We had a leak on the same side and thought it was coming from the awning mounting. In fact, when we took it back to the dealer they though it was from there as well. Retro- fitted and not done properly. However, after a couple of trips back to the dealer when resealing it didnt solve the problem they finally found it was the seal around the upper window. Problem solved?

I had exactly the same problem, appeared to be the awning fixings but the water was actually coming through the join of the flexible window seal, i.e. the seal around the plastic, not the sealant between the window frame and the roof.

I took mine off at the weekend for it's annual clean from green mildew!!
Mine is held in place on two fixings.
Each fixing has a bolt which goes through the fixing bracket into the awning casing.
Slightly open the awning and you will find nuts inside the casing which correspond with the bolts.
Undo nuts, remove bolts.
Awning can then be 'lifted off' the fixing brackets.
Be careful, it's ****** heavy.
Refitting is the reverse.

Many thanks to all who responded. It was the window, gave me chance to clean behind the awning though, 13 years worth of gunge.
