Awning questions from new Sussex van owner

Hello. I wonder if someone can advise please. We are new to the forum and new to Autosleepers having owned a Bongo and vdub before. We like an awning but the guttering on the Sussex (fiat ducato 10 base) is plastic and doesnt look like it will be strong enough. How do we fit an awning? I have read about c and j fittings but dont know what they are. Any pics and advice would be great thanks.
