WiFi at C & CC Sites
Hi All,
I thought that this was (probably) good value for money.
The C & CC are offering WiFi access at their sites for 12 months.Cost is £20. Maximum download 12gb. Covers use at all sites where wifi is available. i.e. once bought you can move from site to site using the same ticket.
Now the experts can shoot me down.
Mick.

Wifi at c&cc sites
I have unlimited data on my mobile, and so I use mobile hotspot function which turns my mobile into a wireless modem no matter where I am providing I get a mobile signal,I connect my laptop and Jayne connects her tablet at the same time. Cheers Algy

Re: WiFi at C & CC Sites
In comparison to the old rip off prices that C&CC used to charge, this new £20 for 12 month is a very good deal. I couldn't believe it when I first read it in the magazine.

Re: WiFi at C & CC Sites
I've bought 12 months at CC sites for £25, not as cheap as C&CC but used it at three sites so far and its been as quick as my home broadband and I don't think there is any limit to download.

Hi Rich.
In reply to your question 'why pay twice', this stemmed from a week ago when I was at the C & CC site at Devizes for a few days. Like lots of us, I use an iphone 5 to which I tether my Tab. I also have unlimited data. It transpired that I had virtually no signal on my phone - an unheard of event. It would log on for perhaps half a minute and then drop out. Very frustrating. Normally I use the Tab for watching Sky Sports etc but on this occasion I had to do without. It was only when I got home and read the magazine that I realised how cheap a years access at a club site could be. Hence my letter here. I may never take advantage of the offer, but I thought it worth pointing it out to the Forum members.
Regards,
Mick

Fair point Mick.
However, mobile phone coverage is improving all the time and we've rarely had no signal at all.

Hi Margaret,
I am probably the last person to offer technical advice on wifi access, however, I'm sure there are a good few members who could offer advice. Could I join Margaret and request instructions for her to get on line.
Thanks,
Mick.

Margaret.
You will need a Wifi enabled device such as a laptop, tablet. ipad or smartphone.
If you're doing this for the first time at a C&CC site the wardens will be able to talk you through it. Meantime, have you got a relative or trusted neighbour who uses Wifi already and can demonstrate it to you; this would be better than trying to describe it through a forum.

Re: WiFi at C & CC Sites
Thank you all for your replies,
Rich,
No I don`t have anyone that uses WIFI when away.
I know I will need my laptop, believe it or not, I don`t use mobile phones, I do have a cheap one kept in my MH just in case I break down, otherwise I do not use one, it is never switched on, used it to ring home the other day, just to keep it working, I put £10 on it nearly two years ago and have over £7 left.
I don`t want or need WIFI at home if I have read your reply right, It was the WIFI like the CC&C are advertising, when touring, some sites say free WIFI , I have a desk top and a lap top both are wired, just wanted to use WIFI when I am touring to keep in touch with family and friends, also to book sites etc.
Does anyone know if you can pay for the WIFI at any of the CC&C sites ? please.
Regards,
Margaret

Re: WiFi at C & CC Sites
Hi Margaret,
It worries me when I try to reply to 'matters technical' if its something I am not sure about. However..... Yes, you can purchase your annual ticket from any C & CC Site that has WiFi. You will need to check that your Laptop is wireless enabled. I believe that these days wireless is built in to most laptops. However it is worth checking. If I were you I would walk the laptop into any computer shop and ask them to check. If its 'yes' then ask them to show you how it works. If its a 'no' then they will sell you a small gubbins to stick in one of your laptop sockets. Once again, they will show you what to do.
Hopefully an expert will be along shorttly.
Mick.
PS. Once you are up and running with Wireless you can use it in any of the numerous Cafes etc that have free wifi.

Margaret.
Have a look at this on youtube. If your computer is not Windows 7 you can search for the correct operating system.
