Carrying a hose around Empty Carrying a hose around

Post by Celticbiker Sat Mar 15, 2014 6:22 pm

As I'm sure we're all aware, van conversions are a little limited for space and it always irked me to have to carry around a long heavy hose in order to fill the tank.
Well, I recently purchased an xhose for the house and figured it would be ideal for keeping in the van too.

This one is 50ft(15 metre) weighs 500 grams and is in a box 255x75x100.

Is the spray nozzle removable?

Take a look at this Sue68.

Looks as though it will roll up very small.

Yes the spray nozzle is detachable.
As the box size suggests, it does pack down very small.
Mine isn't an xhose, it's a copy and only cost £16.

OK CB. That's a better price. Does it roll up as small or does it occupy the whole box?

Hi there,

Did you by any chance own a caravan before you got the MH?  think_smiley_46

I carry a 4m length of garden hose, complete with all the required adaptors.  It lives behind the driver's seat.

I have no problem filling the tank because I just drive the MH over to the tap!   champagne  champagne

Best regards,

@ bertb
It does occupy the whole box but it's still a sight smaller and lighter than a normal hose.

@ Dutto

Never been a tugger Dutto .
It wasn't the length but the small size and lack of weight that made me think it would be useful.
Sorry sorry.
Now I come to think of it I was a tugger for a while with the trailer tent.

You can buy a 50ft roll flat hose from Amazon, with change from £10, it goes onto a reel that looks to be only about
1 - 1 1/2 inches thick.  I just did a search for roll flat hoses and found it.  Hope this helps, sorry about the yellow background, if it shows up when I post

I always use the clear 10mm pipe and keep it on top of the gas bottles in a sealable bag.
Though most sites have a hose available.

I use a 5 metre hose from the camping shop. I roll it into a plastic bag and stow it under the driver's seat with the electric hookup cable.

Thanks for the info Celticbiker. I use a plastic watering can but I might try one of these. Moving on each day means I don't carry a lot of water about with me!

Hi Bertb,  Same with me. I started always with a full tank of water. T then found it was unnecessary.I do not go the the sahara.
Water is found all over Europe. also the weight is reducing your payload for other maybe more important items.
Its also deadweight ,reducing your MPG.
However each to his own.

I have the blue flat hose on a holder which is for the fresh water,it is food grade,  doesn`t take up much room, I also carry a watering can.
