Replacing Roof light Empty Replacing Roof light

Any help would be appreciated. Recently a slate fell onto our motorhome and cracked the perplex on our main roof light (1metre by 720mm). Is it possible just to replace the perplex or do I need to replace the whole roof light?

Hi to you
We have a Talisman and I suspect that you will not be able to replace just the cover. The top outer cover is "welded" to the inner cover and you can't even part them for cleaning.
When I asked on here I was pointed to ebay where you can find them for sale, but I dare say there are other suppliers around. Replacing the whole unit is not too difficult and if you can do it under cover even easier.

From the size quoted in Playbus' post, it would appear you are talking about a large Heki rooflight, not the older 40cm x 40cm size. That size Hekis have a very big price tag, see here..

but you can get just the dome, still a hefty price ...

Replacing Roof light Empty Re: Replacing Roof light

Hi there,

Have you considered repairing it?

Cracked perspex is easy to repair effectively, permanently and without too much cosmetic impact.

Personally, as it would almost certainly be out of sight, I would gently scratch a "V" along the crack(s) and then fill the "V" with a clear Araldite.

Done properly, this would result in a discreet and watertight permanent repair.

Hope this helps.  allthumbz

Best regards,
