Would the seller accept collection by a courier if you organise it. These steps don't come up often
enough to let it go.

I took mine off. It was bolted through the pinch weld of the rear sill and one side broke loose, took a while to realise where the awful metallic creaking noise was coming from.  scratch head

As an aside, my van failed the MOT this year due to severe corrosion on the rear inner panel in two places. Both places were just where the step used to be bolted on - coincidence?

BTW is the van running OK now? what was the problem?

Frank

EDIT my step was made of MDF with an allloy chequerplate covering, and it was sodden under the alloy

Hi Frank ,it seems to be running a bit better ,I put new plugs in ,but the van did not seem to like them ,even though I have been told they are correct, put old plugs back in for now .Since we had van the starting has been very laboured ,and I parked it up for a fortnight through Xmas as used wife's car for work .i went to start van and it had flat battery ,charged it ,but just got clicking . Remembering from my old days tapped solenoid and it eventually started .but when I stopped van wouldn't start again .took starter off and looked inside and it was so full of sh*t it was a wonder it turned over ?new starter fitted and it whizzes over now . Still need to have timing done ,oil and gear box oil changed ,but same as everyone else have to get some funds in first . After your post think I might leave steep as van has had welding done to it .

We used to, but found a useful guy (he does habitation checks etc) to fit the aerial on the roof. The internal duct and socket were already in the van so easily fitted for £50.00. Very neat job and tv fitted on swivel bracket.

You've just had a new cambelt fitted, so you cannot mean the valve timing. The ignition timing is controlled by the ECU - no adjustment possible.

Hi Frank ,the engine is running a lot better but still the revs go up and down slightly .it may be I noticed it more because to the exhaust being on drivers side no rev counter fitted ,also even with new starter the engine flys over but sometimes I the engine will stop turning over for a second and then go again if that makes sense I am a lot happier with Peggy as wife now calls it but still need to a few jobs ,next one being air filter which looks reasonably clean ,but will still change it ,when under van changing starter motor I dis notice a square wiring connected not connected to anything on RH side as looking up from underneath..

You stated that the FRAME was still there, so can't you simply make & fit a new step from a lump of say 18 mm marine ply??

Hi Frank, I might take mine off.It looks rusty and we hardly use it with that sliding side door.
That sliding door is a big advantage for us.regards
