"that motorhome is a bit too high sir"
Took the old girl to the garage to have the exhaust manifold looked at. Mechanic looked at her parked up, sucked through his teeth and said "that motorhome is a bit too high sir", his mate came out, sucked through his teeth and said "the top box will have to come off as it won't go through the doors" (it would have, and there was enough height for it to go on the lift), "you'll have to take the aerial off as well" said his mate. I said to them that they knew it was a tall vehicle when I booked it in. They said "well you go home and take it all off and we will have a look at it, do you want to rebook it now"? I won't tell you my reply!

Took my Landrover (old defender ) in to have new tyres fitted after they had looked at it and quoted the job. Phoned to see if was ready as was going to be just a few hours and their reply was done the tyres but cannot balance the wheels as the don't fit our balancer. My reply was probably similar to yours Minky and they then had to take them somewhere else to get them done, and quickly.

I don't understand what your issues are? would you prefer them to damage your roof / topbox?
It's quite possible that they know a bit more about the height restrictions of their premises than you do? Did you tell them the height of the van with topbox when you booked it in?
Frank

Boxerman. If you read my post correctly you would see that the doors were plenty high enough, plenty of height inside as well and that I had informed them previously about the height of the vehicle.
Hope that is satisfactory for you?

In your opinion but not theirs apparently. As it is their building and their lift, they probably have a better qualified opinion than you.you would see that the doors were plenty high enough, plenty of height inside as well
Seems odd that you had given them all these details, but when you arrive they say the van is too tall to fit in their premises when it is not (according to you). Why would they say that if it was so glaringly obvious they were lying?and that I had informed them previously about the height of the vehicle.
Before I bought my first van, I had my MOTs at the same place for about 15 years, When I took the Trafic to him he said that it was too tall for his garage once on the lift, although to me it looked as if there was plenty room. I assumed he knew what he was talking about seeing as it was his lift and his garage. I now go elsewhere, to somewhere that can accommodate a hightop van.Hope that is satisfactory for you?
I can understand you being brassed off, but I suspect that there is part of this tale that you're not telling us.

Boxerman. Why are you so critical and assume I am leaving something out? I just wanted to share my experiences like everyone else on this site. You appear to have a problem with my remarks. I thought this was supposed to be a friendly, supportive site but it would appear I have picked another dud.

Re: "that motorhome is a bit too high sir"
Perhaps Boxerman somewhat harsh comments were not meant as written? Nice if that were the case

Re: "that motorhome is a bit too high sir"
There are two sides to every story, and it seems to me that the garage guys were protecting Minky's (and their own) interests by not wishing to damage the topbox and / or roof.
Minky seems to have decided that the garage guys are villains and liars.
Friendly? I always try to be, but I don't like to see someone being picked on who cannot defend themselves.
