20 litre gas tank Warwick duo
Hi,
Just ordered a Warwick XL, and was wondering how long the gas tank will last on normal usage?

Re: 20 litre gas tank Warwick duo
Oh about as longs a piece of string I’m afraid. Depends so much on how much and what you use the gas for, but for an example we still have a 7kg butane bottle with some gas left in after a two week jaunt plus about half a dozen days out only ever used the gas for cooking. Our next jaunt is likely to incur the use of the gas heater so I’m hoping that there's enough for a couple of nights at least. Got a small backup bottle though just incase.

Re: 20 litre gas tank Warwick duo
hi baz, we have a 20 liter under our symbol. when its full it will go for a month in the summer with the fridge on full. longer than that if you stay on hookups. mine has a diesel eberspatcher for the van interior, so the gas is for cooking, fridge & water heater.

2 x 6kg Propane Cylinders hold about 22/23 litres so this should give you some idea of how long the 20 litre cylinder will last

Re: 20 litre gas tank Warwick duo
On a 4 week holiday in Europe with extensive use of the oven, cooking nearly every day plus water heating and fridge on the relatively rare times that we have no EHU we would expect to use 5 to 6kg. I only once emptied a full 7kg butane but that was because the rubber hose had gone porous through age. Moral-replace the gas hose reasonably often

Re: 20 litre gas tank Warwick duo
I agree that the 20 l cylinder holds circa 10kg gas.
I agree with Ron's estimate of uses in the summer.
On a rally field in an icy November/December with gas heater, water heater and fridge 24hrs a day and use of both hobs and oven I reckon to use 2kg (4 litres) a day so with a fixed tank would be limited to say 4 days before having to go off site to re-fill gas.
I have also been on a CL in January that had meters on each EHU. The cost of using gas was 20% that of buying electricity for heating space and water.

Gas gaugeCac
Can't comment on how long the gas will last but with regard to the gas level gauge beware! Our Warwick Duo continually gave false readings and finding supply in the UK is not that easy. On one occasion the gauge said we were empty and the tank only took 4 litres! In the end the whole tank and fittings needed replacing(under warranty) but no real reason was given for the false readings. I thought the reason was a simple sender unit issue but they said a replacement did not rectify the issue. Hoping we have no further problems as you do need to know how much gas you have especially when using the Aires and Stellaplatz when on the Euopean mainland. Great system though. You must make sure you have the fittings for each different country to enable you to use the local pump.
Great system though to always have access to gas.

Re: 20 litre gas tank Warwick duo
hi Bazel
I have a 2 year old Warwick Duo which I use off EHU. In winter use I fill up every 3 days. If and when I order a new Warwick XL I would be asking the dealer if AS would fit a larger tank at no extra cost to me.
Regards
Colin

Gas tank
We have had a 6kg refillable cylinder in use for several years and for nomal summer use (no EHU) using water heater fridge and hob cooking only, we put £4 to £5 worth of gas in about every 8 days. In winter using the truma space heater we generally fill about the same amount every 5 days or so we have to be more carfull than those with a modern cylinders as ours has no level guage to tell us when it is getting near empty.

Re: 20 litre gas tank Warwick duo
Just picking up on this as I serched forum as I wanted to know if the gauge could be modified to indicate with just ignition on and not have to start the engne which appears to be the case. I sat with ignition on for about 4 mins and no indcation.
The level gauge is also hopelessly innacurate; shows empty when 8 to 10 litres used and is a real pain as we dont use hook up unless we have to and not knowing contents once red on is not a lot of help. Off to AS factory tomorrow 200 + miles each way and another £100 lost) for a list of defects so will be interesting to see what they have to do.
I would go along wth Peter on how long a tank lasts but prob not 4 days in really cold weather (but we do leave it ticking over at night so the dogs dont get too cold aah.)

Re: 20 litre gas tank Warwick duo
Thanks for the replies, the tank gauges definitely seem to be unreliable, pretty poor really when you consider what you are paying! I wonder if it's the same in LPG cars? Would be interested to know what AS have to say about it Jaytee.

Re: 20 litre gas tank Warwick duo
Has anyone managed to get anywhere near 20 litres in an empty tank, we don't seem to get more than 15 or 16 litres at most plus when down to 4 or 5 litres it won't powere the heater just the hob and fridge?

Re: 20 litre gas tank Warwick duo
Gas has to have an area of expansion therefore you will not get 20ltrs in a 20ltr tank..best you will get is 19+ a smidgen

Re: 20 litre gas tank Warwick duo
Best I get and from completely empty is 17 litres which I think from memory is correct as will only fill to 80% for gassing as Broadwayelduo said.

Re: 20 litre gas tank Warwick duo
The LPG tank that AS install, is quoted by them as being of 25 litre total volume. However the tank can only be filled to 80% capacity (to allow for expansion), so the maximum fill of an empty tank is therefore 20 litres.

That will be worth checking when I am at the service centre tomorrow as I am sure mine is only 20 litres.

According to the A/S brochure it says....
Key Features
The Flagship Auto-Sleeper Peugeot Coachbuilt range is undoubtedly the benchmark for every other coachbuilt to be measured against.

Re: 20 litre gas tank Warwick duo
This website has details of lpg stations all over Europe. This is the page for UK. We haven't used it in UK as we have two local garages we use to fill up and have only needed to fill up in UK a couple of times while away. But we have used it all over Europe (About 15 countries so far) and found it very helpful and reliable.Claytaa wrote:Can't comment on how long the gas will last but with regard to the gas level gauge beware! Great system though to always have access to gas.
We always confirm the presence of an active lpg station when we use one - a bit like this forum, it's the users who make it work

Re: 20 litre gas tank Warwick duo
We have had our Sussex duo a year now with no problems with gas indicator. However we fill fairly often when the opportunity arises, even if the gas indicator is reading just off full.
