Winter cover
Hi
Although I'm planning on using my van regularly over the winter, can anyone recommend a winter cover for my 1991 T4 Trident please?
Also any other tips for winter storage (fridge?) most welcome.
Cheers All

Re: Winter cover
Im ordering the t4/t5 one from just kampers. I've read loads about covers for our trooper but cant seem to find one especially for it.
I know you will probably have trouble getting one for a higher roof so good luck!

Re: Winter cover
i've been considering this too, as i've just spent hours cleaning the roof of its layer of greenness!
i thought i might get a large tarp to go over top and tie it down to various parts of as symbol - van is drained down over winter - i just take water carrrier on board when i use van during this time.

Re: Winter cover
I once bought a car that had had a large tarp tied down over it for a few (winter) months. The tarp had actually worn through the paintwork to the metal on the front and rear wings. The cause seemed to be constant wind movement of the tarp. If you have to go for a cover of some sort, better to go for something lightweight IMO.tcarne wrote:i thought i might get a large tarp to go over top and tie it down

Re: Winter cover
I ended up buying one of these
[You must be registered and logged in to see this link.]
It is not taylor made but has tensioning straps at the back which take up most of the slack. It accommodates the high top and leaves just a couple of inches of tyre showing. Bought it just before the recent storms, and it survived. We used the van last weekend and there was no weather damage, so it does the job. really pleased with it.

Re: Winter cover
Hi there,
The original post asked for advice on the fridge.
1. When not in use:
o Give it a wipe with a soft cloth dampened in warm water with a bit of bleach.
o Leave the door propped open. (We use the small bin that we have for kitchen waste.)
2. When in use, and with temperatures below 8 degrees, make sure that the winter covers are fitted.
Best regards,

Re: Winter cover
Hi Ian, Not the way i read it. he was after Motohome cover advice and then some other help, say fridge.
For the Motor home cover i can offer this;
I have had one on this winter. So far it looks good.Checked inside its very cozy.
The only problem it looks like a neigbours cat likes testing his claws on the cover! Many times.
Maybe they invite friends round to have a clawing party. I have put some pepper, cat powder and stuck this on with chest vapour rub that i don't need.
will update in the spring.
regards
mike

Winter Cover
Hi, just read Dutto's reply about the fridge. We have a Duetto and last year we had a cover on it for the winter months, but this year we are using it as our main vehicle, so no cover. With regards to the fridge, is it still better to put an outside cover on the fridge even though the vehicle is being used.

Re: Winter cover
I put the covers on the fridge vents over winter as they prevent all sorts blowing in, leaves etc. Make sure the door is open to prevent mold growth. I never put a cover on as they tend to "sweat" unless you get a breathable one.
