Like many of my school reports I think "Could do better!" can be applied here!
We have a 2.4 turbo diesel Duetto and often get 34mpg cruising normally and 30mpg when towing a trailer.
However, we try to cruise at a steady 46mph (smack in the middle of the "green band" on the tachometer) and very seldom exceed 50mph.
The only exceptions to these rules are:
o We never go slower than the speed limit if we are on single track roads and a commercial vehicle is stuck behind us.
o If traffic is very heavy we move up to the speed of the slowest commercial vehicle to reduce the number of trucks sitting on our tails waiting to pull out and pass. This is usually 56mph (90kph) and it accounts for some of our 30mpg runs!
Best regards,
Ian

Be careful not to drive round too carefully feathering the accelerator.
I have seen lots of vehicles not running right and failing emissions tests that have become choked up from idling along all the time.
Sometimes its worth giving the engine a good thrash now and then, An "Italian tune up" I think they call it.
