Hi. a soon to be autosleeper owner which one?
Hi all,
We have spent many years camper vaning and once again it is time for a change. We have our heart set on an autosleeper monocoque unit and need forward facing seat belts in the back for our 2 little ones. We have been offered (what we think) is a good deal on a 1995 amythist automatic. Has anyone any tips or experience on what to look out for or any alternatives??
thanks all

Hi, and welcome to the forum, can't advise you on the Amythist but I'm sure someone will be along who can.

Being biased towards Fords I will say the Amethyst is fine but dont ignore the Talsiman if you are stuck for space is a bit shorter in length

Hi quirky,
Welcome to the forum. We have exactly what you are looking at (see avatar) a 1995 Ford Amethyst automatic. We find it economical but slow up the hills. If you test drive it make sure you try it on a hill!
We are very pleased with ours though and we have looked at more modern vans and they don't provide the level of accommodation that ours does. We are also a family of four but with older children. We use it with a Movelite XLF awning for longer breaks. We sleep a 12 year old above the cab. There is a useful locker outside at the back which we put our folding chairs and table in. There are two different areas you can put your TV. You can either make up a large double bed or a small double and a single.
Look forward to hearing of which van you get whether it is an Amethyst or another Autosleeper.
Regards combecamper

Well we took the plunge and bought the non turbo auto amethyst. As people have said it is slow on the hills but we love it already. Picked it up friday and have not gone home with it yet. It is immaculate condition, great layout, quality fittings and everything works perfectly. Our fourth family campervan and we love it. Parked on a north wales beach living the Dream! Just need a bike rack now!!!
