Can anyone recommend a leisure battery
Are they all similar or are some much better than others?
Need something to fit on a 300mm x 290mm tray
Any help appreciated - they all look the same to me.
Thanks

You 'll find it hard to beat Tayna Batteries, look at the website, all dimensions and ampere hours given...

Re: Can anyone recommend a leisure battery
Hi there,
I have managed to live happily for over 45 years in caravans, boats and motorhomes using standard lead-acid traction batteries.
I have only ever bought the cheapest available (*) and they have all lasted between five to seven years; however:
1) They were all fully charged if they were to be left idle for more than a month.
2) When in use the batteries were NEVER allowed to drop below 10.8 volts before being recharged.
(*) The exceptions being a John Deere 110Ah battery and a Bosch 60Ah battery; both bought overseas when I was unable to find anything cheaper!
Hope this helps.
Best regards,

Re: Can anyone recommend a leisure battery
Tayna are pretty good in terms of choice and price, but you need to be aware that sometimes what they supply does not match their sizing info and photos! I ordered a battery from them because it did not - in their photograph - have fixing lugs at the base. The one supplied ~did~ have fixing lugs and hence would not go in my tray.
It's complicated. Many supposed "Leisure" batteries are really not much more than re-labelled vehicle batteries. They are Ok for people like me who never, ever run them anywhere near flat, but won't survive long if you do. The really good leisure-use batteries are a different matter - for example deep-cycle AGM batteries are supposed to be very good, but they are ~very~ expensive.

The best leisure batteries seem to be by Banner [You must be registered and logged in to see this link.]
If I ever replace any of mine in the future it will certainly be for one of these, only ever heard and read good reports.

But (there is always a "but") remember that their job is to sell you a battery!
