Announcement
There has been a 'Small' minority of members who have left the forum recently. Some for personal reasons, but some because they don't agree with our objectives.
We have stated before that we will not tolerate members telling us what we should or shouldn't do, or how we should or shouldn't run this forum. As founder and Administrator of this website that started from nothing with no help or assistance from anyone at the very beginning. I have not only invested a lot of money to get this site where it is today, (as well as our associated websites) But, I have invested an immense amount of my personal time and effort behind the scenes running this site. (more than any of you could ever imagine).
A staff member has decided today to resign because of our objective to work closer with Auto-Sleepers and ASOC - We have never made a secret of this, and it has always been our intention to attempt to work alongside one another. We are all Auto-Sleeper owners and share the same interest, so why this division? I'm shocked at the level of maturity by some of these members who are senior to me in years, yet so immature in their reasoning.
Today I have become extremely close to taking the site down and calling it a day, this can be done with just a couple of clicks. We have dealt with many up and downs since the forum launched, but I always thought we had loyal members and more importantly staff members who felt almost as passionate as myself. Sorry to say, it seems I have been proved wrong in my naivety.
Disappointed and discouraged.
Regards
Admin.

Re: Announcement
Hi Admin,
I am sorry to hear that you seem to have been getting a bit of "grief" lately.
Please do not let this put you off, as I'm sure the vast majority of users are totally supportive of what you do.
It is more than likely that we do not fully appreciate what you do, as it is difficult to comprehend the amount of time (and probably money) that you have invested in this site.
Quite often, it seems that people seem blinkered in their opinions or set in their ways and appear obstructive if they don't get their way. From experience, it's not necessarily the young and inexperienced that have these traits and I'm sorry that what appear to you as "senior" members appear uncooperative.
As a relative newcomer to this forum, I have been absolutely delighted with it.
When I had some problems with my drain valve (actually the 'vans, not mine) the level of help I received was totally unexpected.
When I've been feeling a bit jaded and depressed I've used the forum to be cheered up by reading some of the jokes and poems.
And I've been inspired by reading about other users trips and experiences.
I really hope that I will be able to enjoy using this forum for several years to come and beg you to keep going. It would be a sad loss for all of us if it were to disappear.
Finally, I would like to thank you for my birthday wishes, on this my 60th birthday!
We've had eleven visitors staying with us over the weekend for a celebration.
Half have gone back, and the remainder, I've packed off to a local attraction for me to get some peace.
All the very best,
nuevoboy.

I would like to thank you for all the work you put in and hope that you will not be discouraged by a few petty minded ########,

Give yourself a few more years and like Sammy Davis Junior you will be wishing that you had looked after yourself better!!
With regard to the Admin problems I can only pass on something that it took me many years to work out:
People who cannot fault WHAT you do will ALWAYS tell you that the WAY you did something is wrong.
My advice is to tell them to * Inappropriate Word *-off!
Best regards as always,
Ian
PS I will be doubly amazed indeed if I don't get the "Inappropriate Word" banner!

Re: Announcement
Hi Admin, I for one would be EXTREMELY saddened & disappointed if this great site were to fold, I ( & I suspect many others ) am addicted to logging on every day possible, I personally have no problems at all with the way you control it, its YOUR baby & you run it how YOU want it run, if I or any others don't agree, then we are all free to leave & go elsewhere.
I am on several car & m/cycle forums & I can tell you that this one is by far the best run & controlled, one biker forum is full of effing & blinding (doesn't bother me by the way ) & one of the car sites, they row so much that punch-ups have been arranged!! ( honest )
I have noticed that some of us think, talk & act differently, but that's normal in any group, & we all ( well almost all ) 'adjust' our behaviour to suit the majority & keep everything within the forums rules, but on the whole, I think we are a great bunch & bounce off each other very well indeed.
Although I personally have only met a handful of forum members, I like to feel 'one of the gang' & that we're all mates.
So please don't let the odd one or two spoil what to my mind is a rather rare & 'special' club, & I feel privileged to be a member.
Lawrie

Re: Announcement
Thank you all for the support you have shown to Admin.
I agree with what has been posted over the friendly way this forum is run and the support many of you have shown. It is difficult on these forums to keep all happy and there will be always those who disagree, after all we are a democracy.
Compared with other forums the amount of moderation needed has been minimal but at the end of the day there are things that just cannot be said and need removal to avoid legal action against the site owner.
If it upsets people that moderation has taken place thats unfortunate. This forum is not a business venture nor is it a sideline of a publishing house - its a hobby which I think we all enjoy.
If you get rattled or disagree please, dont cause grief, either ignore or go into hibernation for a day or two,,,,, or better still go out in the van where there is no 3g/wifi coverage and you cant get on the internet and relax

Always look on bright side of life....da dum.da dum da dum da dum da dum
Admin thank you for all your consistent hard work and commitment in setting up and maintaining this site. You should be proud.
Members thank you for all your contributions ....and that's in spite of me being on the receiving end of uncalled for criticism.
We are what we are and most of us on this forum at our time in life are unlikely to change.
Admin has every right to run the site how they see fit but they must also remember to listen and value the contribution of the members.
Always look on bright side of life....da dum.da dum da dum da dum da dum
As for me I find a good bottle of red is usually the best solution to all things.
Cheers Ian

How dare you threaten to close down this great Forum. My wife would find you and kill you. It's her only respite time from me, when I am on the Forum talking to my "Cyber Friends".
So please Admin to make both of us really really happy, don't close down this great site
Cheers

Re: Announcement
Please dont close down it is a vital source of information on Autosleepers. By the way I like the fact that swearing is not allowed, I would not have stayed if there was alot of swearing.
The person who resigned was probably looking for an excuse to go and rather than being honest and just saying my life has moved on and I want to do something else.
I am sure that most members are very grateful for what you do and approve of how you do it.
Dont let the b******* get you down
Louise

Sorry to hear that you have had grief, I love this site and it has been great to learn all the ins and outs of Motorhoming on here.
I also try when I can to put some input into the site with things that I have found to help others.
Please continue with this fantastic site.
Best regards, Mike and Sue and of course Winnie.

Admin,
I have noticed that a few people who don't Post regularly have responded to this Thread in a very positive manner; so please take it as read that the support is there for you even from Forum Members that don't necessarily Post queries or comments.
Best regards,
Ian
PS
If you did close the Forum down I think my ASOF T-Shirts be worth a bit extra.
They are both well used and a bit out of shape but I think I would put them on e-Bay with a reserve of £50 each!
See what I mean? Everything has a silver lining if you look hard enough!

Re: Announcement
As someone who joined near the start of the forum I have found it of great value and I have told Admin before that I appreciate the hard work undertaken by him & the team.
I have recruited many members over the years and spoken highly of the forum.
I have not been on the forum very often in the past 9 months but Admin knows that is due to family matters which I do not wish to discuss here.
I would plead for some respect for those who have contributed a great deal to this site but feel they cannot remain part of it. Some of them that I know are not miserable b**** and their views should be respected in the same way as those who choose to remain.

Would be very sad to see this forum go as it is the only one on which I post regularly (well, regularly for me) knowing that if I ask for advice it is there straight away. Some forums I look at are very cliqueish or downright rude, but not this one. Felt at home as soon as I joined.
Not sure what has been going on as I haven't seen any arguments, but hope we can continue happily thanks to the staff, moderators and, not least, to the owner.
