Just getting round to it...
Joined a month or so ago but been sidetracked so didn't get around to saying "hi".
So - Hi!
We live in west Lancashire and have owned two AS motorhomes - an ageing Pollensa firest, and currently (and for the foreseeable future) a Windsor. Searched the site and it seems no-one else admits to this . We bought AS because of reputation, and because the Pollensa was the first we saw with a layout we liked rather having the salesman tell us what we wanted . We were very inpressed with the build quality and "upgraded" to the more recent Windsor (Transit base) a year ago. The "twin facing settees in an L-shaped front lounge with freestanding table" configuration is just about perfect for us, but I have to say the build quality is not up to that of the older Pollensa. Nothing major - it just doesn't feel as solidly built and upholstered.
I'll stop wiffling. Hope to learn much from this specialist site, and contribute when I have something to say...

Welcome to the forum Tony from another rare species owner.
You dont by any chance want a new set of carpets do you ? Long story will explain another time.
We have had our Windsor from new (its 3 now) and have had mixed experiences but if I can help over anything you can either post on here or send me a pm via the forum.
West Lancs ? we cant be that far away from you being in what was South Lancs
The picture of our van was at Bury CC Site on its first trip

Hi Roli.
Yes, we're in Ormskirk so not far away at all. Our Windsor is on the previous Transit base from yours (though technically its first reg was in 2006), with the "automatic" gearshift and I'm pretty certain the upholstery is a custom-made job, subtly different from all the others I've seen. I like it a lot - though if I'd known how noisy an Eberspacher space heater can be, I'd probably have passed. Still, it can be avoided when hooked up, and it did keep the inside toasty when travelling in the worst of last winter's weather.
As for carpets - why on earth do they put pale coloured carpets - even if they are removeable - into caravans and motorhomes???? Learning from experience, the first thing we did was take them to a local carpet warehouse/rug manufacturer and have a darker - and I think much better quality - set made up from the pattern. Amazing value; we picked a suitably-sized roll-end for about £80, and they produced perfectly-fitting new carpets from it for nothing!!!! The originals are in the loft, never to be seen again until the day we decide to sell the van, many years in the future I hope.
It'll be good to compare notes with another Windsor owner, and I'll PM you, but gotta go now; this evening wil be spent with friends (Swift Escape) discussing where in Europe we're going in September. I love this stage of a holiday....
Cheers for the welcome all.
