1998 Ford Duetto

The cigarette lighter works ok when I push the lighter in, heats it up ok. However I want to use it as 12v supply, and when I plug in my Ipod (using the correct plug) it blows the 15amp fuse. Anyone any solutions??

Some cigarette lighter plugs can catch both the live and earth contacts at the same time when being plugged in. Usually cheap ones, is it a genuine Apple charger?

Hi Frank, the plug I am using is an FM transmitter for my IPod as the radio has just a cassette, no USB PORT or CD, it isn't an Apple plug. I have got a short 12v extension lead, I will try that,

I have just checked the internals of the plug and its broken causing a bridge, now in bin, new one to be bought! Thanks for getting my brain cells into gear , Simon
