Don't head over here !
If anyones thinking of a trip this way, North Wales, don't!. Woke up this morning to around 8 inches of snow. Estate roads almost impassible, secondary roads just about and main roads such as A55 strewn with lorries that can't make it up the slightest incline. Been out myself to try to take someone to airport but had to give up as couldn't get to them, so just cleared drive for second time to get car back on and thats where it's staying for rest of day.

Re: Don't head over here !
Hi all.
It was time to make the dreaded visit to family down south so we thought it a good idea to go yesterday
We had to go to Southend so we thought we would cut across Cumbria get on the A65 and stop off at Last of the summer wine home Holmfirth for 2 nights do a LOTSW local walk then get onto the M1 and head off down to the M25.
What a mistaker to make!!!! We had booked in to the Holme Valley camp site at holmfirth for 2 nights!
Great journey through Skipton, sunny and dry. Wandered round Holmfirth Thurs afternoon, had coffee in Sids Cafe Booked in for two nights at campsite.
Woke up this morning , after a freezing cold night to 4ins of the white stuff As the weather forecast said the weather was moving south decided that it would be advisable to go back home as it is only 98 miles rather than 300 to Southend, and the return journey!!
Campsite wouldn't give a refund So the entire waste of time cost us about £80
Moral of this story.... Watch the weather reports and take notice of them

Re: Don't head over here !
We saw Mold on the news this morning and thought of you Paul, seems like we have missed the worst of the weather as we often do here in Norfolk.
We are currently staying (nearby to home) at the Norfolk Broads caravan club site, within the Broads National Park.... here its extremely cold, extremely blustery and with a few snow flurries thrown in but its reasonably bright at the moment

Paul I can feel you shivering from here - keep warm and don't build that snowman yet - you may get buried alive if more snow comes .
We ventured away for a couple of nights to the Norfolk Broads as CC has already mentioned - nice little site - bitterly cold and blowing a gale . Cant do much as its so so cold outside. Good job the heating is working - snug as a bug inside
Roll on summer

Re: Don't head over here !
Well it's actually stopped snowing now and the sun is out, thawing slightly. Don't want it to thaw too quickly or else we'll have floods next. Thought you might like to see what our road now looks like after we eventually had the jcb snow-plough round last night...........

Re: Don't head over here !
Thanks for keeping us informed about conditions, we were going to stay in Ellesmere for a few days, but decided on Saturday that it was going to be too cold and the roads a problem, even if it was not so bad as you are having.
