New Member & Prospective Owner
Hello all
I'm new to motorhomes but have spent some time researching and viewing and have decided to purchase my the end of March. We have now started looking seriously for a Nuevo ES or similar, probably 3 or 4 years old. We're aiming for the ES as it has 4 belted seats and will enable our children to borrow it occasionally with their toddlers, our grandchildren. My wife and I intend to use without grandchildren.
Over the years we've travelled fairly widely throughout UK and Western Europe, and so many times we've discovered places where we'd like to have stopped for a few days, but accommodation hasn't been available or nearby.
We live in Berkshire, and plan a few days out at the end of this month, snow permitting, to visit the SE dealers.
I have heard that AS suffered some quality problems around 2007-2008: can anyone give advice or what to look for?
Thanks
Alan

Most vans of that vintage will have had any initial problems sorted by now, have fun looking but dont rush, and remember there is a version of that van branded as a Lancashire,
The Devon is a Merc chassied version as the Eton is a Ford but the Eton finished production in 2008/9?

Thanks Roli and Burlintonboaby.
I'm aware of the Eton, also Sigma and Broadway, but I fear the Merc versions may be over my £30K budget. ...and I do intend to take my time to get what we want. End of March is 2 1/2 months away!
All advice welcomed. javascript:emoticonp('')

Alan,
Welcome to the Forum from a cold and windy Skegness.
My advice is "Don't promise to lend your new van to anyone before you have bought it." because you just may be amazed at how protective you feel about your new acquisition once it is parked on the drive!
The thought of someone thrashing "Petal" up a motorway, driving past scratchy bushes, tramping sand in from a beach and letting their kids daube miscellaneous items of food over the upholstery are just a few reasons why I wouldn't lend her to anyone; including the man who chanced to marry my daughter!
Best regards,
Ian

Hi Alan
Wecome to the Forum from a Somerset
The Nuevo ES is a great van but in the vintage you are talking about reverse judder was a certain problem. You need to be sure that this has been resolved for any vehicle you look at. There is plenty on the internet to help just google 'motorhome reverse judder'. The Nuevo is slight overbodied which means it can suffer more than other vehicles.
Good luck and enjoy your search.
John

Thanks, John, good advice. I shall be looking out for and reverse testing 07 - 09's when I come across them.

Welcome
Welcome to the forum. Can I suggest that when you find a van get an engineer to do a pre purchase inspection, it can same you a lot of money. I see so many people fall for a van, buy it and we get called out to do some very expensive repairs. A pre purchase inspection could have saved the customer from buying a lemon.

Re: New Member & Prospective Owner
Good advice, which I did indeed follow. I had a DEKRA inspection done, results "Very nice, Top Condition, No Faults or Issues" , which confirmed my impressions very nicely.
Thanks & Best Wishes.
