Re: Boxer Harmony/Symphony/Symbol Bike Carrier
Whilst I think about it, I have another concern about AS's mods in this area.
In order to gain access to the carrier bolts from the side, AS cut out two areas of welded seam across the rear cross member of the van body. Every time I see this I wonder whether this weakens the van body, and I half expect to see cracks forming from the sharp corners of the cut-out. Not seen any as yet, but I reckon it's worth keeping an eye open.

(With apologies for going off-topic: perhaps another post is required to cover the spare wheel rack in the Technical zone?)

Re: Boxer Harmony/Symphony/Symbol Bike Carrier
Hi Bartfarst - I've just stumbled across this thread as I'm trying to fit this to our new camper:Bartfarst wrote:Hi John, I've just been out to the van to remind myself how it went together.
I aligned the brackets flush with the top of the door and symmetrically about the window. In that position, the upper mounting hole for the upper bracket goes nicely through the flat area of the top of the door. The washer beneath the nut just starts to ride-up the radius where the inside skin of the door comes away, but that's not a problem. The lower holes for the upper bracket come through both skins where they are flat and parallel. I had to put large holes in the inside trim to clear the capped nuts, but that looks OK in my van.
I can take photos and share them with you if you wish.
Hope this helps?

Could you be kind enough to send a couple of pics of your installation - particularly around the internal top mountings?
Did you need to buy new longer bolts?
Many thanks
