Battery charger
According to the instruction manual for my recently purchased 2001 VW Topaz there is a built in battery charger, it also shows it on the wiring diagram. I can't find one, does anybody know if wasn't fitted to every Topaz or if it was an optional extra?

Re: Battery charger
I'm fairly sure that it was optional on all van-based conversions of around that period.
Obviously it depends on van layout, but AS had a tendency to put it in a concealed compartment at the base of the wardrobe, with a switch and light on the inside back wall of the wardrobe.

Re: Battery charger
On the Symphonys, the charger is under the false floor in the cupboard under the cooker. I would have thought that by 2001 all vans would have a charger. Do you not have a control panel with a 'charger' light?

Re: Battery charger
On our 2001 Topaz, the charger is at the extreme rear right-hand corner of the van (just in front of the offside rear lights), and is hidden under the 'wardrobe' floor.
There is a little white hatch in the wardrobe floor which lifts up.
Beneath this lies the charger, which is a ventilated metal box with a switch and a light on it.
(If anyone knows how to remove the whole wardrobe floor panel, please let me know.)

Re: Battery charger
No problem
One detail AS seem to omit from their manual is to tell you where these important bits of kit are actually hidden in the van.
