faulty fridge
Hi All
Just returned home from Lincoln show had a problem with the Electrolux fridge (RM 4217 I think?) when switching to gas operation the burner ignites and the fridge does cool, but there are fumes coming in to the van which I am assuming should be exhausted out, before I start taking everything to pieces has anyone got any ideas as to what could be wrong please, thanks in advance

Re: faulty fridge
On my Electrolux, the air mixer tube became partially blocked, which led to gas escaping from the air inlet holes. This meant that when ignited there was actually a small flame where there shouldn't have been - which melted and very nearly set fire to the insulation on the ignition wire. If that's happening on yours, you would be getting a burnt plastic type of smell.
If not, the only realistic place for a blockage is where the flue does a near right angle turn to exit the van - IIRC this is only held in place with a single self-tapping screw and could conceivably have come loose.

Thanks for that Mojo, will have a look tomorrow, it is not a burning plastic smell, its like you get from the outlet of a Carver Cascade heater outlet if that makes any sense

Hi Mike,
I would get it looked at PDQ, as the smell you get from the Carver when on is most likely (the dreaded) Carbon Monoxide. Although it isn't supposed to have any smell it's best to be safe than sorry. (Or an ex-motorhomer!)

Re: faulty fridge
Hi Mike.
The Lincoln site tends to get quite a lot of wind as it is so open. Sounds like the wind was blowing directly onto the fridge vents. If the fridge itself is not completely sealed to the van body the fumes come into the van. Just take off both vents and seal around the fridge edges with gaffer tape. That tends to stop it, also makes the fridge more efficient.
Cheers. Whisky.

Re: faulty fridge
I had the same problem on my Duetto. It turned out to be the short flexible pipe from the flue to the plastic grill had detached. It was a simple repair job.
