Hi all,

I'm a new member from London. I've been a member of the Talbot Owners Club for some time and got an invite to join this group.

Last year I bought a rather elderly (1988) Talbot Talisman II. My main reason was because I felt stuck in a rut. I used to travel a lot abroad, but stopped because I have cats and the cat-sitting friends had disappeared over the years. Didn't want to spend too much on a van in case it turned out to be a disaster with them. They're house cats and are generally terrified of 'out' and not keen on strangers. Surprisingly they have taken to travelling. They were nervous at first (thought they were going to the vet I guess) but now they have adapted. It doesn't seem to bother them at all. I'd even go so far as to say they like it - well they certainly like supermarket carparks and watching everyone!

Kind of wishing I had spent a bit more and got a newer, more reliable van!

Hello Upnabout,

Welcome to the forum from Ilfracombe. wave

We wish we could take our cats with us but they do go outside so worried we would lose them. I expect your van gets alot of interest in the supermarket car park with the cats looking out the window.

regards Combecamper.

Hello & welcome from S/Yorks drinksallround

We took one of our young cats in the caravan once, somehow he got out as we were about to leave, shot off & it took ages to find/catch him, never again!!

It was one of my worries at first, but they don't try to get out of the van. They treat it like home and 'out' is still 'out'. The first couple of trips they stayed above the cab when I was driving, then they got braver/bored and kept climbing down. I then tried putting them on leads in the back - that lasted all of 30 mins - they got out of the harnesses and came and sat on the passenger seat looking at me waiting for the next challenge! Now I let them wander and it seems to work the best. They leave me alone when I am driving only occasionally coming up the front to nose about or sit on the passenger seat. I'm surprised how easy it has been!
