Hi, I've just joined the forum, I got a AS Symbol about 8 weeks ago, it's a 1999 2.5 turbo diesel model.

I had a converted Renault Trafic van before this, but wanted something a little bigger with a bathroom.

I've Spent 4 weekends away so far and slowly getting used to it and upgrading it in the process.

Looking forward to learning more about these vans and seeing other peoples  smile!

Hi Ian H#2. That’s a nice looking van and super looking dog.

That site looks vaguely familiar.

Thank you, he likes going out in the van and exploring new places  smile!

The site is Bakewell Camping and Caravanning club site, first time we've been there, it's a really nice site

The only way to change your username is to ask Admin to change it , send him a PM with a suggested new name.

Dogs seem to love vanning. Ours remembered every site we visited and always knew his way to the dog walk on a return visit.

We’ve never been to the Bakewell site. It looks a bit similar to the C&CC Kendal site so that’s probably the one I was thinking of.

They are really clever at remembering the things they like and especially in our dogs case, where he gets given treats  hugegrins

The Kendal C&CC site is on out list of places to go  up!

Yes, we didn't realise when we booked it that it was so far away, but Youlgreave is a nice walk along the river away so all was not lost

Kendal is much closer to the town, an easy walk.

I think it’s preferable to the CAMC Kendal site.

Welcome!
Loads of Symbol info on here.
Nice sized van, probably the smallest practical with all amenities.

As to confusion re user names,  I can see some (!!) but we have an executive, and rarely, virtually never, actually, use UK sites!

Be better to change it though, there's enough confusion on here already imho!!! confused3 confused3 scratch head scratch head hugegrins hugegrins hugegrins

wave Hi and welcome to the forum from us two and muttly. I admit reading your first post whilst eating my cornflakes I had to read it twice. Had the other Ian changed his van and moved house. scratch head No it made sense once I re read your profile. There’s only one of the other Ian H.
When we looked for our first van the Symbol was on our short list because of its layout and facilities. You have meany travels and adventures ahead.

Hi Ian I too have a Symbol. Mine is a 2002 1.9 diesel turbo. Never had any problem with the engine over the past five years I have had it. Most years go off to France etc and generally do 2000 to 3000 miles. once in May and again in September. Mileage approaching 100 K. Had troubles with rust, sills etc and one front suspension arm. I always have advisories attended to straight away. One thing you ought to check is the state of the camshaft belt. Should be in the service records if you have them. So I am off on Sept. 5th . All the way to Cadiz. Should be an enjoyable trip. All the best to you and try to take your Symbol across the channel where you'll find beautiful roads often with no traffic at all.
