Hello! I've just swapped my VW T5 for an AS Symbol 2012! Wonderful! It's only done 6000 miles and after a week's trip to Edinburgh and Durham-I love it already! I live in the Vale of Glamorgan but also have a base in beautiful Wharfedale! Looking forward to many more trips and to reading and sharing on this forum! I'm still finding the "best way" of storing and loading the Symbol- but there's so much more room than in the VW. ( I did like the VW and it was very economical - but I'm enjoying the extra space and comfort of the AS Symbol!) So glad I've found the ASOF- so Hello again!!  broomstick

Thanks! I've been considering attaching a roof mounted awning to my Symbol? Thule or Fiamma? Do you have one- and if so - what do you think of it? How does it cope in wet/windy weather? Can you close it when wet? ( for onward journey etc)

Hello and asof_welcome2 from Leicestershire, Fiamma says take the awning in when wet and windy, defeats the objet to me, only used mine once, for me it would have been better to have a C rail on instead

Thanks for welcome! Yes! I wondered if that was the case- I can appreciate when it's windy- but no point if it doesn't cope with SOME rain!! When you say "C" rail- what do you mean, please?

C rail is the awning rail that is on caravans, I put one on my previous van which was a Topaz, very easy to thread a canopy or a drive away awning onto, even easier to slide out when packing up. I had a 3mtr rail, used original screws that the guttering was screwed on with, that way no new holes in the van, just had to use a self tapper at the front end as there wasn`t a screw there.

PS would have thought a C rail would have gone easily on your van, if that is what you want.
