Olympics, like it or not

How good is it to see sworn enemies in the same arena sharing the values of fair competition.
If only those that run the World could have a drop of that blood.

I hope they are not all sea sick today. The Seine was very choppy. Thought it was the cameraman at first!

I don’t mind the Olympics if only because you can follow the sport you choose. The football seemed to go for ever and then it was analyzed for days afterwards.
As you can tell football is not my thing. At school I was plagued by an idiot teacher telling me I was doing it wrong no matter how hard I tried. Chasing a ball round a muddy field in the rain seemed senseless.
My athletic prowess was raking the sand for the long jump. I didn’t mind that because it was nice sitting in the sun watching everyone else running in circles or throwing things.

My post was not really about the actual games but highlighting here we have Israel competing against Palestine in the harmony of sport and others in the same manner, yet the leaders of those same countries seem incapable of negotiating differences without resorting to conflict of an entirely different type. Imagine what we might achieve if we worked together.

I agree, up to a point. There will be a fair amount of jiggery pokery going on behind the scenes with various Countries seeking to "gain an advantage". I have no doubt that, for instance, the timing of the video of Dujardin appearing was to remove her from competition. We also have a couple of officials being sent home after a drone flying incident (I won't mention the Country involved  ).

West-Eastern Divan Orchestra has been going for nearly 30 years, comprising mainly Palestinian  AND Israeli musicians. Will be performing Brahms and Schubert at proms on 11th August as part of Euoropean tour. 

Yet another situation where people transcend the idiocy promulgated by politicians in their name.
