Re: What a bargain !!!!
I got a text from "The club" giving me £40 off a 3 night site stay. Needs to be booked before next week and taken before the end of September. It would have been rude not to take advantage

Re: What a bargain !!!!
Those £40 vouchers were supposedly sent to members who have not booked a club site for at least 2 years to encourage them to use club sites. But several members have commented on the FB group that they have used sites this year and still got the voucher. No reward for loyal members.

Re: What a bargain !!!!
I already had several sites booked for July trip to Norfolk, offer arrived of £5 per night discount, not applied retrospectively so cancelled and rebooked, will do same again if any other offers but need to keep alert, as Paul says no thanks for loyalty

Yes, and as for the other lot. I got an email with a range of carefully thought out % discount offers. I say carefully thought out because the conditions applied and the limited sites included mean it's very difficult to save a bean.

Not sure if anyone watches Rob&LynnOnTour on YouTube but I’m sure they said on their last video when moaning about site fees that the CAMC Rowntree Park York was £66 a night, that can’t be correct surely? If so that’s just utterly mad

Re: What a bargain !!!!
Just found a site 45 minutes from Roscoff, sandy beach a doddle away, heated indoor pool, electric and all the usual facilities 13 euros a night low season deal. Then people wonder why we go to Europe ( apart from the sun that is!) will be giving it a crack next week.

Ian: that photo reminds me of a similar experience (in Copenhagen, as it happens). There was a large civic site, with all facilities, near the old FishMarket. Just a few motorhomes around the enclosing perimeter wall. Arrived back in evening to find a group of a dozen or more motorhomes from Italy had arrived, and had parked in a very tight group either side of our van - with virtually all the rest of the site empty. So tight that the Clubman's had door could only just be opened. Glad when they left in the morning.
Next time we visited CPH the site had disappeared and there were buildings there.

A particularly Irish road to get there!
Then, convoy, nose to tail, of 16 Italian vans arrived, all parked in a posse!!
None of the occupants went to the ferry, or the near Irish pub, just all left next morning. Supervised this carefully to ensure they were going the opposite way to use!! Imagine trying to overtake that lot.
I did ask their leader why none had headlight beam converters on, he had less than zero idea what I was on about!!!!!

I’m guessing as those prices are in August the prices Rob&Lynn stated were probably correct trying to get a pitch at shorter notice, even the above prices are shocking if you ask me, only need a spot of grass to park on overnight.

Re: What a bargain !!!!
I think that's the point. Some people only want a spot of grass or hardstanding to park their van overnight. For them a carpark will do. Others like me want much more, among other things, a good ambience and plenty of space between pitches which I know from experience and some of the photos and stories on this thread and elsewhere is less available on the Continent than in UK, France perhaps being the exception. When we lived on the Continent for over 5 years, the best site we visited with our caravan was a CL near the Old Dalby Forest in North Yorkshire. The only drawback was we had to pay for a ferry to get there and back!

Ootmarsum, Holland. Each bay, built in ramps! Sink and tap. Water tap and hose. Cassette emptying drain, EHU Satellite socket even speyes to secure awning. Hard standing for awning. Toilets and shower free and unlimited
36€ Per night!!!!
If all sites were like this we'd actually use sites!!!

One thing I do like is the ability to just hook up to a tap and waste, we do seem to get through an awful lot of water! Enjoy the stay.

Re: What a bargain !!!!
Ian - each to their own. I would rather have a level pitch than one with ramps especially if the ramps can only be used on the front wheels as I might want to park the van the other way around either for the view (if there is one) or to avoid having the habitation door on the same side as my neighbour's. I don't need a sink and tap on the pitch because I've got one in the motorhome. If I need to wash something that is particularly dirty I can do it outside in my bucket. I'm happy with a cassette and grey water emptying point and freshwater tap in the corner of the field and wouldn't trust a hose other than my own and I am also quite happy to use my water barrel. EHU is useful but I wonder if it is 16A because we found many on the Continent aren't. Never tried watching TV abroad but in this country a co-ax feed is useful if the terrestrial TV is poor. I'm not sure I would want to sit on an awning hardstanding that close to a neighbouring van which would be my main objection and I have plenty of pegs of my own so don't need any anchor points. Most sites we use that have a toilet or shower, include it in the cost of the pitch and, if they do, I will use them but I am equally happy to use our own facilities. A nice touch we have seen on some sites is a picnic bench on each pitch but for that you need space which is sadly lacking on the pitch you have shown.

Re: What a bargain !!!!
Sure the layouts are for foreign vans, we simply parked offset and used our own level ramps.
Every other aspect has been excellent. It is the attention to detail I like. Where has anyone seen tie down anchors for awning???
Compare this quality, price and standard with CAMC York as an example?
