new fabric and storage upholstery
Hi folks, our t5 Trooper is looking a bit tired inside - the carpet fabric on the walls, the general upholstery fabric, the storage cupboard doors etc. I am looking for advice on best ways to replace internal fabric and storage doors etc to give it a more modern look and colour. Nothing too drastic but just ways to replace the old fabric and maybe paint the cupboard doors a different colour etc. Anyone done anything similar? Thanks!

I suspect it's an issue that most Trooper (and Trident and Topaz) owners face. The durability of the vinyl covering on the cupboards is poor. We're looking to strip and paint but... other things have got in the way, and so it's an unfinished (in fact only just started) project so far. So I'll be interested to hear how you get on!

Yeah, that's my experience with the vinyl on the cupboards. Not much that you can do about the moulded beige plastic but can strip and paint the cupboards. You doing anything about the fabric too of leaving that alone?

We replaced some of the "carpet" on the walls/roof because it was too dirty to clean (and also because we had to remove the "carpet" on the front roof panel when we fitted the solar panel). It has had a full re-upholster (which was of course very expensive, but looks good).
My preferred option would be to remove the vinyl and spray the cupboards, but that has been vetoed in favour of hand-painting. It remains to be seen whether that will look Ok or not. Well, what I mean is - it remains to be seen whether it will actually get done or not!!

Good luck with the paint job. Did you use a specialist upholster for the carpet job?

Thanks - no, the "carpet" is easy to do yourself. Hardest bit is getting the old off. It's quite flexible/stretchable, so much easier to deal with than real carpet.
