Trident Cupboard Basket Empty Trident Cupboard Basket

Post by scrumpyjack14 Mon Aug 20, 2012 8:36 am

Morning all!
Busy on the weekend kitting out our 'new' trident and we're puzzled by the deep cupboard to the right of the sink.
We assumed it was designed as the food cupboard but the depth doesn't make for very efficient use of the space.

There are rails at the top and we are sure we saw another Trident with a basket in the top of this cupboard. Can anyone confirm? If we are right, is it possible to buy this basket anywhere?

Many thanks,
Steve

Could it be that they are drawer runners ...... the Rienza has a deep two compartment drawer and also a cutlery tray on secondary runners underneath ??

Thanks Dave & Bob!
That's the basket we are after! We are booked into AS for a habitation check and a few bits and bobs at the end of the month - will see if they have one for sale!

You may well find a plastic basket that fits in a pound shop. We've still got the AS wire basket but found adding a second one helped get make the larder easier to use.

Thanks Peel - that's interesting. Do you keep the plastic basket beneath the wire one?

Hi

We have 2 baskets in ours. We put one right at the bottom on the base of the cupboard though as otherwise you can't fit things like boxes of cereals in. Also I put a coloured Ikea chopping board into the base of them as they fit perfectly and give the baskets a solid base. Wherever you locate them though, they are quite tricky to lift out without tipping them up.

Hi. Steve

We are new Trident owners, on our first trip at the moment, Norfolk, great area. As Jackie says ours has 2 baskets fitted, then further space below to the cupboard floor. We are finding the baskets very useful to store food, tea coffee etc. more often used stuff in top one, less frequent in lower or on base.

Good luck with the Trident, we love ours!

Yes, with the original spec. the Trident had two baskets which sit on the rails & a space below as described above.

Maybe Auto sleepers may be able to supply you with new ones?

Motorhome designers are notorious for wasting space as under this basket and making cupboards difficult to use, I have always thought for example that any cupboard near the floor should instead be a drawer to prevent the necessity for lying on the floor to access their contents, as an example try searching kitchen mods to our Lancashireto see my major alterations to ours.

Very impressive!

Unfortunately I don't think I can do anything like this in the trident. The cupboards are pretty small already.

We've actually been amazed at how much storage space is in the trident. We've managed to get all our permanent stuff in without making use of the front top cupboard, the bunk bed or the wardrobe. So plenty of room for clothes, rucksacks etc etc. the food cupboard is the only one that seems quite wasteful on space.

Trident Cupboard Basket Empty Kitchen mods

Post by murph Mon Aug 27, 2012 9:42 am

Hi All,
Roli saw my mods and decided that the one mod worthwile to his van (different cupboard internals) was to turn the door from 2 seperate doors into a bifold as ours is. The origional had just 2 shelves and a big space with a waste bin in it.

Please could someone post the dimensions of the original baskets supplied by AS? I have found a company that will make to measure replacement baskets. Thank you.

Hi, I have exactly the same issue with my Trooper. It didn't come with anything that wasn't actually bolted in. I have made bed boards and tables, but the baskets are a bit more troublesome and it's a real pain having all our food muddled in the deep bin. Would be most grateful if details of the manufacturer could be posted.

Mank thanks, Dave

This is the response I've received from the company....

Good morning and thank you for your enquiry.

This is something that we are able to offer.
The approximate price for each basket will be £60.00 each
(Excluding the plastic coated finish)

Regards,

Hi, Thank you for the reply. That is a lot of money but it has been driving me mad rummaging through stuff whilst on a trip. I wonder whether they might reduce the price if there was enough interest - part of the cost is likely to be down to set-up.

Kind regards, Dave

It's disappointing isn't it. I'll see if I can find another supplier. Perhaps it's the quantity that rests the price. It would be useful to know the demand for these baskets, then maybe approach a company with a bigger order.

I'm in communication with another company who have initially quoted a price of £25 each plus delivery, which although expensive, is an improvement. I have asked whether a larger order will affect the price, so it would be useful to gauge demand.

Hi, Assuming that the Trooper baskets are the same dimensions I would definitely be interested at that price. I should have mentioned earlier that I asked AS about the baskets & they thought Hafele made the originals, I looked on their website but couldn't see anything appropriate.

Sorry btw that my replies are a bit sporadic, my internet access has been a bit unreliable...

Many thanks, Dave

These are the measurements sent to the company who manufacture the larder baskets. These measurements are taken from the baskets in a 1996 Trident.
