Warwick XL adding more solar,Lithium/inverter
First post here, I have a question for Warwick type vans, we haven't bought yet and I have a few question which I'm find difficult to get answers.
I currently have a self build, it has lots of solar and 240v power station.
Looking at the Warwick XL, it only has a 80w panel, can more be added (is there any space).
Can the batteries be upgraded to lithium so I can add inverters as we only camp on sites with no electric.
I had a look at the control panel setting but couldn't find and battery options.
Thanks in advance.

Re: Warwick XL adding more solar,Lithium/inverter
Thanks everyone, I've had a search of the forum and it's not good news for the Warwick XL which we really like.
The pre installed wiring isn't up to it and there's no space on the roof to add extra solar.
At the moment once my batteries are charged (10am) we use any excess solar to run the whale water heater, we cook with induction and have electric kettle, toaster, hair dryer.
I've had the same gas bottle for two years because solar is free.
I think it would cost too much to convert the Warwick for full off grid camping.
BTW, introductions: My name is Gary, we caravan and motorhome just about every weekend and longer when possible.

Hi, you need to look at Freelander’s story how he has covered his XL roof with solar and the inverters he uses. Kevin

Re: Warwick XL adding more solar,Lithium/inverter
My guess is that the roof of the Warwick XL would have extra space on the roof to add extra solar panels, perhaps unlike the standard Warwick. Modern A/S panel vans have decorative roof bars that serve no useful purpose, you can't mount anything significant to them. Replace them with proper roof bars and you could install much larger soar panels across the roof.
The Sargent EC700 can only work with up to 120 Watts of solar power, even then Sargent were using their more basic solar controller, not a MPPT solar controller. On the latest vans Sargent may finally be installing an MPPT controller. The solution previous owners have gone for is to bypass the Sargent EC700 and fit their own MPPT controller connected directly to the VB and LB.
A/S manufactures motorhomes that are mostly meant to be used by owners staying on campsites where they would connect to the campsite's electric hookup post.
The A/S small lithium batteries they currently fit I say almost fit into the same category as their decorative roof bars, more for marketing than offering owners a real improvement in being independent of EHU..
