2008 Nuevo
We have just collected our Nuevo and after draining the freshwater tank in order to sterilise the tank, pipies etc I noticed that the level on the MES panel remains at 100% irrespective of how much water is on board
Is there a reset that I need to do like in my old Clubman

Go to SEARCH on front page. Type in water level sensors.
There's about a million posts re this on there.
Sorry if sounding blunt....
Re level sensors they are all at best next to useless
There are 2 certain times you can be sure of the contents of a container....
1 When what you are trying to put in overflows the filler and wets your shoes, it is then FULL
2 When you open the drain cock and eventually it stops dripping, it is then EMPTY
Anything in between is uneducated guesswork!!
This applies to virtually any tank, even those on aircraft so don;t worry about a waste tank, just empty the thing every time you are near a drain!!

That's a bit harsh, Ian. I agree that A/S or Sargent sensors are unreliable if not cosseted but I clean mine with citric acid at the start of each season and find they are then reasonable with an occasional glitch. The ones on my previous Hymer were ALWAYS reliable but we're only powered when a reading was taken by pressing a spring loaded 2 position switch (fresh or waste) with a central off. I am sure that the scaling of our sensors is mainly due to 24/7 powering, even when the control unit is OFF. I reduce the impact on mine by always draining the tanks when the van is idle. A couple of months of immersion is enough to cause the unreliability of which you and others complain.IanH wrote:Go to SEARCH on front page. Type in water level sensors.

Can only go on experience Ron, not just with motorhomes either......
Eribacar.....best by far, didn't have any other than visual through a wee slot, inboard tank. Guaranteed to work if eyesight ok!
Warwick Duo 6 yrs old Neither ever worked all tanks drained when not in use
Harmony Ditto
Next Warwick Duo ditto
Present Exec....This one is superb, has a small potentiometer on the control panel which lets you make the quantity gauge needle read what ever you want irrespective of tank contents!!!!!
Full when overflowing, empty when no drips with drain valve open!!!!

Re: 2008 Nuevo
I don't doubt your experience, Ian. Many other members report the same but specifically, as you have, the bad experience has been AS based. My experience has been restricted totally to my Nuevo and my previous Hymer and that is what I documented, together with a suggestion for a temporary cure and my theory for the bad performance of the Sargent systems. Those systems are unreliable but in my personal experience the unreliability can be tempered by regular 'servicing' which I agree should not be necessary. I did, at one stage. ring Sargent to discuss my 24/7 theory but they weren't interested. Might be interesting to know if Peter Brown or the ASOC Technical Officer might have had a more fruitful response?
By the way, my waste sensor is a float type and hasn't given problems - mainly, I suspect, because the smell comes into the bathroom sink before the tank gets anywhere near full, so I empty it whenever I take on water or at earlier convenience.

Re: 2008 Nuevo
There are a couple of versions of the MES electrical system and I'm not familiar with any of them. I think PaulMold may have some experience and the phone number for MES has been published on the forum several times - of course I can't find it at the moment.

MES Ltd,
Unit A2, Harris Road,
Wedgnock Ind Estate,
Warwick
CV34 5JU
Tel: 01926 499756
Apuljack engineering repair them .
Although MES supplied them, I believe the panels are made by Bonus Accessories. Does your panel have a digital display or simple switches with water/battery level in centre ?

Don't waste your time taking it in Ralph, the problem is in the water tank and I have tried every form of cleaner and treatment but to no avail.RalphHughes wrote:It's a single touch screen

You get to know when you need to top up from experience.
Hope this helps.

Everything that can be said about this issue has been said somewhere on the Forum. As well as sterilising your system you should thoroughly descale it. Many use citric acid for both and again this is covered on the Forum. You may then find that your problem goes away but it may reoccur. The problem can also be caused by road spray/rain shorting out the sensor wires under the van/outside the tank. Again this is covered on the Forum.RalphHughes wrote:We have just collected our Nuevo and after draining the freshwater tank in order to sterilise the tank, pipies etc I noticed that the level on the MES panel remains at 100% irrespective of how much water is on board

Those of us with later vans and specifically with the EC700 power control system can't afford to ignore the problem as the external tank heaters and autofill function are linked to the sensor readings. For example, if the sensors show 100% full, no power will go to the Whale inlet socket which means no water water can enter through it.
