ford duetto 1995 temperature guage
Hello, Can anyone who owns a 1995 ford duetto advise me on what there temperature guage reads when driving does it go up and down when driving (allways staying in the norm area of the guage) or does it get to a certain level on the guage and stay constant, Mine seems to never be in the same area, Is this how thay all are? Many thanks ben

I can remember owning a Ford Escort that had a temp gauge that fluctuated.......turned out to be the thermostat even though it never ran hot!

The old ones worked off a bi-metal strip via a primitive voltage regulator. If the voltage regulator went belly up the gauges would show full, empty, hot, cold or anything in between.

it is a mk4 style dash with the wood panels so would it be fitted with one of them, I have done over a 1000 miles miles with the van and is does not overheat it just is not stable(but llways in the norm) never had this with a electric fan (fitted to a car) before, thanks for all comments never had a viscous type before, Thanks benboxerman wrote:The old ones worked off a bi-metal strip via a primitive voltage regulator. Fluctuating engine temperature gauge....................
Are you losing any coolant from engine?
I would check/replace thermostat/temperature sender unit/wiring,
(always difficult to accurately diagnose problems without a lot more info on symptoms together with recent service history etc)
Sorry I can't be more help,

Symptons, None, Tempreature guage never goes out of the normal zone, But just goes up and down in the normal zone of the guage. I have done over 2000 miles now with no overheating and no water loss just not used to a temp guage that move's a little up and down the normal reading of the guage. Thats my concern!! Just had service.

Hi
We have a 97 Duetto, the guage on ours fluctuates between the O,R,M (where it shows normal above the needle), it will go up to R on a short m/way run and to M on a long one. In France in June climbing the Cevennes it did creep up to A but dropped going flat or downhill. At no time have we overheated or in fact used any water at all,the French trip was 17 nights away 1800 miles loaded up with usual holiday gear plus 2 bikes on the back, hope this reassures you.
