Failure of central locking Empty Failure of central locking

Post by petermcd Sun Nov 20, 2022 6:41 pm

Bought a new Broadway EL this year and up till recently the central locking has worked fine. However, in the past week, whilst the van doors lock/unlock correctly the habitation door does not. It will lock/unlock with the supplied key. Any ideas where I should start looking please ? Peter M

First clean the contacts, second make sure they align properly. Third then look at broken or disconnected wires where they bend at the hinge side.

Thanks Paul, will check out the contacts etc.
gef… my dealer is a 3.5 hour drive away … Marquis locally will tackle the job but want £100 + vat ‘administration’ fee before looking at the problem. Peter M

This has been covered before on the Forum.  It happened to me.  I discovered one of the two springy contacts in the hab door jam had lost its springyness and so wasn't making a good contact.  I squirt of WD40 and some manipulation solved it for me.  It hasn't reoccured.

Also unscrew the contacts in the door and door frame, mine was due to a loose wire on the door side.

SAme as mine

Its the lock on Hab door out of synch with central lock system.

You have probably locked hab door from inside then unlocked cab doors from remote control.

Try from inside lock all doors and manual lock inside hab door .
Then unlock all with remote

Try it and let us know

Thanks all for your responses, system just needed re-sequencing (per Richard G) and all is operating nicely now. I also checked the contact pad and the sprung fingers and they seemed fine.
Van was sourced fro Nick Whale (whom I found very amenable and helpful) BUT some distance away.
Tried sourcing a Broadway from Marquis Ipswich (just 20 mins drive for me) but they did not have one, could not source one and offered me £5k less in part ex for my Warwick XL than Nick Whale ! Also found the Marquis sales people rather off-hand.
Thanks again for you most helpful responses and note to self : check on forum to see if question has been asked before. Peter McD

Peter I had enough of marquis and moved to sharman caravans ipswich.  It was just nice to get a warm welcome and a good job.  I did notice they have a system to do warranty work for other makes if that is any use for you.

Bought my EL from Ludlow, Nick Whale had identical van in showroom at 4 thou more. Didnt like Nick Whales as they really tried to rip me off trading in my first van for second one (both Nuevos) did buy 2nd from them but sold 1st one myself for loads more than NW offered. Anyway now very happy with my EL , and list price is considerably more than I paid!
