Check Gross Train Weight from handbook or plate on door frame and work out mass of fully laden moho plus mass of car to see if it would be okay

Re: a tow car for my devon
What weight can your Devon tow and what is the laden weight of the car?
As Bilbo said, look at the gross train weight on your van's plate and subtract the laden weight of your MH. The difference will be the weight you can tow but double check it with your V5. Don’t forget that adding a towbar to your van will reduce its payload and the weight of the towing frame will increase the weight of the car for the purposes of this calculation.

WE have an 2018 i10 and tow it with our Bourton, no problem, very easy and quick to hitch and unhitch.

Re: a tow car for my devon
I believe the Bourton to be heavier than the Devon so it may well be legally capable of towing more than the Devon.ourannie wrote:WE have an 2018 i10 and tow it with our Bourton, no problem, very easy and quick to hitch and unhitch.
The i10s are great little cars. Towing an auto model would need checking out with a knowledgeable person and/or the car's handbook.

According to the AS manual for a 2010 Devon, the maximum braked trailer mass is 2000kg, well above your i10 weight.

Re: a tow car for my devon
A tow bar plus any drawbar weight caused by the towing frame or trailer will increase the Devon's rear axle mass. So a bit of research and calculation is required.

Very good helpful company, just bought an UP! converted tow car from them. They list the i10 on thier list of previously converted vehicles and will convert customers cars (not cheap) including any necessary mods to existing/new tow bars and electrics.

I have a wee Kia Picanto Vr7 ,3 cylinder car, purchased from them last October, towed it for 7 weeks doing over Thousand miles on the A frame.
As Petersays, they have lots of stock if required.

On my "new" to me tow car from Towbars 2 Towcars ltd, I have only fitted it once and removed it twice. Fitting took about 10 mins which should get less with practice. Removal is shorter. Much quicker than loading onto trailer and fitting tie down straps.
They fit a quick release frame for the rear numberplate to swap from car number to MH number (supplied in the package), tow car sign for rear, clips on window edge.
The dis-assembled frame in its supplied bag does fit in boot but a bit of a struggle, so intend to store in MH external locker when on site and garage at home. All in all a well executed conversion package.

Re: a tow car for my devon
Obviously the steering has to be unlocked with the gears in neutral and the handbrake off and then the car follows the van. However, there is concern by some about the force on the steering mechanism as it has to work from the wheels up rather than the steering wheel down, to put it in very simple terms.
