Hello from Devon
Hi everyone. We've just put the deposit down on our first motorhome and pick it up on the 1st October. Its a Sussex Duo. We currently have a caravan so know a little but not a lot. I'm not familiar with this site yet but am hoping I can find a forum in which to get some advice or a link to anything we should look out for when we do the handover with the dealer. At the moment our emotions are varying between "what have we done?" and "how exciting and where do we go first".

Welcome to the forum from North Wales
Your caravan experience will help out with most appliances and if you check the 'members factsheets' sub-section you will find a lot of useful information. There is a pre-delivery checklist there as well, the link is here..

Hello Fallen_camper
Hello back from Devon. We also had a caravan before our motorhome and only bought the motorhome at the beginning of July. I think there are good and bad points to both. Our main concern when changing over was parking but on the positive side we think the motorhome will get more use great for days and nights out as well as holidays. Wishing you well with your new van. Both being in Devon we might get to wave at you one day!
Regards Combecamper.

Hello and Welcome fellow new member. Greetings from Nottinghamshire. You will not regret changing from caravanning to your new motorhome. We did it just over two years ago and it was the best thing we ever did.

Re: Hello from Devon
Hi fallen _camper.
Welcome. You’re on the best forum bar none! Know what you mean by "what have we done?" and "how exciting and where do we go first". I felt exactly the same when I bought my van but:
Buying the van was the best thing I ever did. I love my van!
You bought from a dealer so in the unlikely event of a serious problem you have someone to come back on – they have to sort it (See paulmoulds post about the pre-delivery check).
Any minor problems – the guys and gals on this forum will help you sort them. I say stop worrying and get out there and enjoy your new van. When you see another Autosleeper on site say hello. It may well be me or another regular on this forum.

Re: Hello from Devon
You wont find it that different to caravanning other than the "waving" that motorhomers do. At first you may think its something wrong, there isnt they are just being friendly

Re: Hello from Devon
Thanks everyone for the lovely warm welcome and all the helpful advice. I'll look out for you all when we're out and about. We've managed to bring the handover date forward from 1st October to 20th September so I'm now off to do some research on insurance, solar panels etc. We've already found out how friendly AS owners are as we met a lovely couple who had the same model as we've just purchased and they very kindly showed us inside and give us their tips on how/where to store things. The best thing they told us though was how pleased they were with it.

Thanks for the welcome. I don't know if anyone has noticed but I've turned 21. I was a bit older than that when I first posted. I was really surprised to see my age come up on my profile, it not the sort of thing a lady usually tells people the first time she meets them. Still it feels great to be young again.
