Flat starter battery stuck in field
Stuck in field with dead starter battery, dunno why been fine up until now.
Expecting the solar panel to be diverting its charge to the vehicle battery but although I select vehicle at the display panel it still charges the leisure battery?
Anybody any idea as to how to divert the juice to the starter battery?

Not sure you can
Under the bonnet of the Peugeot are two jump start connectors
The earth is a shiny bolt just behind the LH headlight
The positive (red jump lead) is under a hinged cover not far behind the earth bolt.
These give direct access for jump leads without removing carpets floor etc.

Assuming you have an EC500/EC480.
On the control panel go into the advanced settings screen. Scroll to Solar and change from smart to vehicle.

Update. Ec480 control panel dunno about others.
Switch off 12v at panel.
Scroll to AS display. Hold down the up and down buttons.
Display should now show various settings ,scroll through to the solar charging section and switch it from Smart (really!) To vehicle. Then 12v on button to exit back to normal display.
Select voltage charger display and under the solar graphic you should see a V in the sun symbol.
Hopefully that should do it will update in a bit if it doesnt work.
Any body here able to explain the difference between Smart and normal charge?

DBVWT.
Thanks just seen your post. Do you know what the difference is between the Normal and Smart settings? Doesn't seem that Smart is all that smart, both leisure batteries are full to bursting and starter flat. Manual says it will divert charge to most needy battery but it seems like it doesnt.

Only my experience before doing the “solar mod” but the smart system sounds brilliant on paper but in practice is useless!!
I always used to manually change my settings when away on site.

The other question is why vehicle battery is flat?

Yes, my thoughts too. Nothing on except factory alarm.IanH wrote:The other question is why vehicle battery is flat?
When I switched solar to vehicle within 10mins or so the panel showed battery around 13V and enough to start the van comfortably.
I switched back to smart on the panel having switched motor off first, on restart I had L displayed in the sun icon and an engine management light displaying on the dash. Drove to our next stop. After lunch restarted van and the EM light was off.
I had an odd smell in the van recently that initially thought could have been battery overcharging or a dead cell so the battery was checked at that time and was sound.
Anyone know how "normal" and "Smart" options re solar charge are supposed to work?
