Forum Member Roli - Roger
I am extremely sad to have to announce the death of Forum member & Moderator Roger aka “roli”
Some of you already know of his passing, but for those of you who don’t I’m sure you will be as shocked & saddened as I am.
Roger was a great help to me in the very early days getting this forum off the ground, he was very supportive & enthusiastic, he went to great lengths to try to form some kind of a bond between ASOF & ASOC which as many of you know he was also involved with, without Roger to support me in those early days it never would have gone on to be the success it is now.
I’m sure you will all wish to join me in sending sincere condolences to his lovely wife ‘Liz’ at this very difficult time.
For anyone interested Roger’s funeral will take place as follows:
Tuesday 19th July 13.20 at Walton Lea Crematorium, Chester Road, Higher Walton, Warrington, WA4 6TB.
Thank you to Peter Brown for passing this information on to me, also to Paul Mold for giving me details. if you expect to attend the funeral you can PM Peter so he can pass on numbers expected to Liz so they are prepared in advance.
Members can leave their thoughts & condolences here. Roger will be solely missed by myself & many others on this forum, it just won’t feel the same without him. May God bless him & may he rest in peace.
Thank You Roger for your support & involvement with this forum, you will always be remembered.

My condolences to Liz, never met Roger in person, however I felt I knew him well, it was Roger who pointed me in the direction of a Warwick duo.
He will be sadly missed, by all

Re: Forum Member Roli - Roger
Like all other Forum members, I'm shocked to hear this sad news. My immediate reaction is, of course, to send condolences, via the Forum, to Roger's family, and to reflect upon and appreciate, his presence on the Forum.
As Ed (Admin) says, Roger was a stalwart of the Forum, contributing both by posts (nearly ten thousand over 18 years) and by assisting behind the scenes. He will be very much missed.

Re: Forum Member Roli - Roger
We met Roger and Liz at our first ASOC National rally in 2005 and dined with them every night. We joined them on a rally in the Dordogne later that year and in Ireland in 2006 and for very many rallies over the years since. Roger and Liz were always excellent company and Roger and I could talk forever on our shared technical interests - not all to do with motorhomes.
Roger encouraged me to join this forum (the only one of any type that I am a member of) and spoke very wise words to me during a couple of difficult periods of my time in the forum.
You would probably never have known it but Rogers health hasn't been great all the time I knew him but he was a great fighter.
I will miss him.

So sad to hear of this. Compared to some of you I’m a relative newcomer here but found Roger to be supportive and his moderation skills were like a breath of fresh air.
My condolences to Liz.

Can I also send my condolences to Roger's wife, family and his friends, both here and elsewhere.
I'm sorry that we never met in person, his contributions to the forum were always thoughtful, helpful and in a style that encouraged and engaged.
May he rest in peace.

Re: Forum Member Roli - Roger
I joined this forum on 21.2.2011 shortly after its start. Roger joined 4.3.2011 and always blamed me for his joining. I can only assume he had seen a post from me informing other forums of this one starting, he like me was a member of several forums back then. I can't remember when I first met him but I remember he invited me to his house to look at his Warwick Duo when we were considering changing our Nuevo. We are relative newcomers (only members for 4 years) to the Owners Club by comparison to others and when we met on a rally he was the first to introduce us to other members so we didn't feel alone, even at this years National rally , he kept seats for us again so we didn't feel awkward, that's the sort of gent he was. Rest in Peace Roger.

This is really sad news indeed. Although I never met Roger I always found his contributions to the forum to be helpful and measured. To my mind a
good man. My condolences to Liz and the wider family.

Condolences to Roger's family.
I never met him in person, but I always thought his 'light touch' moderating was spot on, knowing just when to step in to stop things getting out of hand.
Sad news indeed.

Our sincere condolences to Liz.
Roger was a lovely and helpful man who, whenever we met, always had a story to tell.
In particular, I recall him telling us of his working trips, as a gas engineer, to Ireland and the hospitality he enjoyed whilst there - we shall raise a glass to his memory when we are over in the Emerald Isle in a couple of weeks time.
Rest in peace Roger.

So upset to hear this sad news. Roli was always positive about any contributions to this forum, and indeed collected all my Executive articles and placed them in a group. I didn't ask him to do this he simply did it. That says a lot abut the kind person he was.

Like so many others I have benefited from Roger's thoughtful posts and his careful moderation of this forum, a task that he carried out firmly and fairly but only when needed. Sadly, I was never privileged to meet him.
My sincere sympathy, condolences and prayers to Liz and his family.
Rest in peace, Roger.

Our condolences to Roger’s family. We didn’t meet him, but he was full of knowledge that he shared willingly, and kept the forum polite and civil, quite an achievement. RIP.

Re: Forum Member Roli - Roger
If anyone is going to the funeral, please note Liz's wish as for no flowers .
Please advise Peter Brown or myself if you are going , so Liz can cater for refreshments afterwards.
A Justgiving 'in memory' account will be set up shortly for members to donate, the money will go directly to the nominated charity which Liz will advise when she has decided after this weekend.

Sad news reading of Roger's death. I had an unconfirmed intimation that we had a mutual interest in amateur radio, in which case If so, I'm sad that it's his final QRT.

Yes indeed Roli was a 'radio ham'. This is a link to a thread back in 2014 which may be of interest to you..Relaxez-Vous wrote:Sad news reading of Roger's death. I had an unconfirmed intimation that we had a mutual interest in amateur radio, in which case If so, I'm sad that it's his final QRT.

Like all of the above, I send my condolences to Liz, family and friends.
He was usually the first to welcome newcomers and guide them in the right direction and he advised me on a few issues.
He will certainly be missed by many on this forum.

Re: Forum Member Roli - Roger
Liz needs to know by tomorrow morning how many , if any, members will be attending the funeral wake (caterers need numbers by midday).
As said before, no flowers but donations will be split between Leukaemia Research and Heart Research charities. As monies will be split, I can't instigate a Justgiving account, so perhaps you can make your own donations to such charities.
