Polish again
Hi all. I know this topic has had several discussion posts in the past and that farecia gets a good recommendation. However, I was told that Autoglym super resin polish is good for caravans etc and so I bought some silly as it was before I looked on the Forum. We have a 2003 Nuevo that is looking a bit dull. We have cleaned it with the proper motorhome cleaner and it has taken all the rain stains off but it is dull. Do you think the Autoglym product would be ok to use? I dont want to damage the surface.
Thanks all.
Thanks all.

Re: Polish again
Just had great results with this stuff, recommended by a guy who worked int he industry for 20 yrs.
Had done mine twice with either turtle wax or another liquid for GRP I found online, with an electric polisher, very disappointed.
This one, all by hand, superb! Only used 1.2 the bottle for a sizeable van too.....

Re: Polish again
Autoglym is fine. I only got it as free gift of pack of Autoglym products when I signed up for MMM magazine many years ago. The Nuevo walls are much the same as caravan walls and it will give a decent shine. So use it, no point wasting it.

Re: Polish again
Second what Paul has said, nothing wrong with Autoglym, I have used it often on boat hulls.
The proof of the pudding with all these products is how long they last, plenty of waxes can be applied and you step back and say "That is brilliant" then a couple of weeks later it has all washed off.
A tip if I may, do not put washing up liquid in the water when washing the van, it will strip any wax straight off, use a proper shampoo.
Get the autoglym on there it is a good product and not too hard to work with.
Once it is all waxed if you want to top it up quickly and easily Meguiars make a spray quick wax which is excellent, lasts quite well and easy to wipe off from large areas.
Hope that helps.

Re: Polish again
Thanks groundhog, that is very helpful. I must say I would never use washing up liquid. I always use a good quality vehicle shampoo so no worries there. Do you think once it is polished up with the Autoglym that something like Williams waterless cleaner would be ok to top up the shine as it does have carnuba wax in.

I was very sceptical at first but have now used them for years on the motorhome and cars.groundhog wrote:Never used waterless products but won't be 8n any hurry to try them.
Great for interim use between full clean and polish routines, especially when travelling - always keep some in the van.
Also for careful removal of seagull droppings without scratching.

Re: Polish again
No worries bobbyd It just made me smile as I thought you thought I was talking about Poland as in Polish.
We use the waterless stuff on the car and it has been ok but I do swill off any grit and thick mud just to be on the safe side.
Well thanks for all your posts, it is very kind of you to respond so quickly.

Re: Polish again
I used waterless for many years when I did corporate taxi work, 15 minutes to clean whole car while waiting at airports for clients.

Re: Polish again
Just to add to the above - washing up liquids often contain salt in addition to surfactants. Not only will they strip wax off, unless the salty residue is thoroughly washed off, expect it to attack any weaknesses in the paint and metal beneath akin to road salt. Many fools use it to wash their cars because of all the lovely suds it creates.groundhog wrote:A tip if I may, do not put washing up liquid in the water when washing the van, it will strip any wax straight off, use a proper shampoo.
I've used Autoglym products without any problems as well.
