Price shock Empty Price shock

Post by v8oholic Tue Feb 22, 2022 2:09 pm

I’m glad I bought my Symbol last spring, because the list price has gone up by a surprising £10,000! I had a good look over the one on the stand, and apart from the upholstery fabric, could see no other obvious changes to account for it, with the exception of the Lithium battery. I guess demand is so strong, they can ask a higher price. The show was absolutely rammed today. Sold out for all dates too.

Here’s mine in the showroom just over 3 years ago unregistered with 10 miles on the clock, £47500. Mostly also unchanged.
The bubble will surely burst soon, next year is my prediction.

Cosmetic changes that may have improved profit margins.

Covid greed that improved profit margins more likely Micky!

Ok I fully understand the sales picture over the last few years but I really think there is a ‘housing crash’ in motorhomes coming our way very soon.

There could be another (brighter) side to this. I think an increase in the price of the new vans will also boost the value of our used vans.

I could not possibly comment!!
More production and new competitors will soon satisfy demand.

Many commentators seem dismissive of the increases as a short term price hike because of covid and lockdowns, and say there will be a price crash later. However I suspect that the impact of the last 2 years is only part of the story. The list price of the Symbol in 2008 was £35,850. So I would suggest that prices have been climbing steadily all of that time anyway, and demand has been increasing all of that time too. So there won’t necessarily be a big price correction.

To be fair to A/S the panel van has gone up considerably as have fridge, cooker, chargers and other components and I thought they had changed the boiler/ heating. That said I'm sure they have watched the market prices too.

Not just the panel vans, bought my Nuevo in May last year and to buy the same van now would cost an extra ten thousand pounds.

would not of bought mine at the new price.

Price increases like this are never a good thing. It just means that the ‘hobby’ starts to become out of reach for normal people which is very bad and unfair. Generally drive by greed which of course is one of the 7
