Good news Paul, thanks. It always strikes us that the Crystal Palace site is totally unsuitable for any other purpose than a campsite and, to close such a busy and popular one is madness.

One caveat: unless you love live pop music check your dates. We stayed recently and endured 3 nights and 2 afternoons of VERY loud Dizzee Rascal among others from the adjacent Rusty Laptop amphitheatre ! So loud that the paint was starting to crack on the van side .l..

Updated 2 December 2022** Following further discussions between the London Borough of Bromley Council and the Club, we are pleased to announce that the Council has agreed to grant a new lease which will potentially enable us to keep the site open for bookings up to and including Sunday 17 December 2023 and bookings can be made now.
We know London is a very popular destination and are pleased to enable our members more time to enjoy one of our most popular and historic sites within the Club network for 2023!

Extended ULEZ scheme from August 2023 might reduce the popularity though?

That article gives £12.50 for the daily charge. OK for <3500kg MH but for >3500kg the charge is £100/day.

So if I drive in to one of the sites in the Ulez on eg a Saturday, don't move the van off site during my stay and leave site and Ulez on Tuesday do I need to pay only for the days I drive in the Ulez ie Saturday AND Tuesday,  or for the total time I am in the Ulez ie Saturday UNTIL Tuesday,  can't find answer in TFL site

Only for the days you travel, ie 2.
Even if you make a short trip inside the zone using a vehicle that doesn't meet the ULEZ emissions standards, you need to pay the £12.50 daily charge. This includes residents of the ULEZ. However, you don't need to pay the ULEZ charge if you are parked inside the zone and don't drive.

Hi Peter

Where are you getting the charge of £100 from?
I've had a good look through the (albeit confusing) website but that seems to say that any vehicles over 3500 kg don't get charged.

PS just found this page which seems to confirm this to be so and specifically includes motorcaravans
