Warwick XL truma, switch, watts usage
Hi,
I bought a Warwick XL last year model year 2018. Now I am converting it into more off grid camping and there are a few things I do not understand.
1. When one switches of the power the Truma dies. Should it function like that?
2. When the Truma is heating up the van it gets extremly warm in the bathroom. Is that a default with my van that should be looked into or should it be like that because there is a purpose behind it?
3. On top of the wood box where the EC 500 is, underneath the coutch, there is a switch button on the top left corner. I have not managed to figure out what that switch is for. Anyone knows?
4. I have installed a Victron system together with the EC 500 witch works very nicely. Now when I go on the Victron coonect app I can see that when the main power button on the EC 500, the black one is on, there is a consumption of 4-6 watts even though nothing is on in the van not even the lights. Is this something anyone else has observed?
So grateful for any inputs regarding above questions

I think the switch is the electric switch for the Truma (leave switched on all the time whether using electric or gas).

Truma needs the power to be on in my experience
The shower/toilet has a air vent down at the bottom of the wall facing the shower opening, as this is one of the nearest outlets to the Truma heater it does warm quite quickly, solution is to close the vent and divert the air to other outlets
On my 2014 van the switch on the too of the EC500 box is labeled waste tank isolator switch, no idea what this does as I haven't touched it since buying the van.
Can't comment on your last point as don't have a Victron fitted

Thank you for your replies!
Regarding my fourth question I have a feeling that these 4-6 watts have always been consumed when main switch is on only I could not monitor it before. So if anyone has monitored there battery usage in some way with the EC 500 main switch on, and nothing running, and has seen something similar I would be interested to know.

The switch on top of the box is the isolation switch for the tank heater pads

don't know really, but if it's like our 2014 XL, have you made sure all the TV booster thing (what ever it is) in the wardrobe is switched off.
Small switch on the side of it with led red light?
yes and I also think the switch on top of wooden box is tank heater isolation/on/off button thing.

Thank you, is the led supposed to be on? It never does no matter the switch positionFreelanderUK wrote:The switch on top of the box is the isolation switch for the tank heater pads

Good idea but, we have removed the TV antenna and booster so it cannot be that drawing the 4-5W all the time.babian wrote:don't know really, but if it's like our 2014 XL, have you made sure all the TV booster thing (what ever it is) in the wardrobe is switched off.

Regarding the button I also see others suggesting a switch for the tank heather. I will investigate
Thank you

With the switch on the overhead panel lit for the tank heaters then the switch under the sofa switched to the on position the switch illuminates

Re: Warwick XL truma, switch, watts usage
So we verified what you wrote and it works the same way. When we turn on the tank heater from the overhead panel, the led on the button on the switch placed on the wooden box lits.FreelanderUK wrote:With the switch on the overhead panel lit for the tank heaters then the switch under the sofa switched to the on position the switch illuminates
On the shunt we can read an additional draw of about 38W
The weird thing is that even if we switch off the button (the one placed on the wooden box that has a led), the led turns off but the draw of watts is the same.
So I wonder what that button is cutting off, not the heater for sure
