prices
I have been scouring the interweb to check out the prices of a Mercedes Vito AutoSleeper Wave pop top. When I came across an advert by Oaktree Motorhomes for a Mercedes Vito '98 AutoSleeper Montana pop top at the staggering price of £18,000 and SOLD. Did anyone on the forum buy this. I only ask as I have one which I bought back in 2015 and is in excellent condition with everything working as it should plus an Avtex TV, Safefil gas bottles, plug in hot water shower, inverter, 200w solar system with Votronic regulator and remote, Mercedes alloy 16" wheels, 70 ltr water tank and so on. Autosleeper were on to a real winner with this vehicle so why did they make less than 40? and only half of them being pop tops

Re: prices
I suspect that the reasons are complex and include factors (such as the cost that A/S were paying for the base vehicle) that we don't know about, but probably the most important one was that the trend (for A/S) was to go bigger, and the Wave did feel cramped inside when sat alongside all of their other models.
It's not something that worries me, having downsized to a VW Transporter based conversion, but at the time A/S seemed to want the whole of their range to be more spacious and luxurious. They were also possibly realising that there was growing competition in the smaller panel van conversion market (for example with the Marco Polo conversion then available) and were steadily giving up on that sector.

Re: prices
I would have said base vehicle cost but they still use Mercedes on the CB range and seem to have abandoned Fiat altogether and just use Peugeot for pvc's now. Retail prices were already pretty horrendous but post Brexit with tariffs slapped on it's worse.Roopert wrote:I suspect that the reasons are complex and include factors (such as the cost that A/S were paying for the base vehicle)

Re: prices
That's true, but it's a cost/volume equation, and I doubt that the Wave ever got higher than a dozen produced a year (based on how few you see about). I suspect that a "volume" contract of that size is not very interesting to M-B, so the volume discounts were probably minuscule.Bulletguy wrote:but they still use Mercedes on the CB range

Re: prices
The Montana at Oaktree is actually featured on the Vintage Vans pages in the latest MMM that came through my letterbox today.
