Re: Em40 interface box
May well be the 240V element that’s burned itself out and gone open circuit. If you have a Thetford N3000 series fridge then it should display an error code. Depending on the type of display it will either flash error code 8 or you’ll need to press some buttons to bring up a flashing LED. Details at the link below.

Re: Em40 interface box
Just realised after scrolling back through this thread that you have a Dometic fridge. My point about the error code remains, but it will be displayed differently of course to the Thetford. Earlier in the thread you’ll see the screenshot I posted with Dometic error codes, and there is one for a failed element.

Re: Em40 interface box
Thanks Tim, I'll pop the cover off today if I can work out how it comes off and look inside but it's probably the element as you suggest. The burn smell has faded now but no reason to believe it won't be back if we switched 240v.

Re: Em40 interface box
Apologies all for the lack of response following your suggestions. We lived with the problem for a few weeks while abroad relying on gas and running on vehicle battery while travelling, only had to top gas up once. When we got back we took the van to Spinny having booked it in before our trip, no fault found and it has worked fine since. Thanks again for your help.

We had same problem yesterday it was the terminal under the fuse in the EM40 fuse box. Put on new terminal all sorted hopefully. Kevin

Re: Em40 interface box
There is an Autotrail recall which may be similar to problems AS owners report. I've found this on Apuljacks site which may or may not be relevant to this....
NOTE: As advised in the Autotrail data to dealers, the original EM40 and EM41 are NOT suitable for Lithium batteries or where 2 leisure batteries are fitted. HOWEVER, the Apuljack replacement IS suitable for both these set ups due to the huge rating of the connectors.
