Re: Mid week motorhomefun
Yes I read this post and looks like Auto Sleepers are doing a good job of trashing a previously well respected brand. The trouble is lots of people don’t complain or make a fuss they just don’t buy A/S again.
I met a couple on a site with a two year old A/S last week who thought they would be keeping their van for a good long time but had decided to change. When I asked why they said lots of little things didn’t work properly and not designed well. They have ordered a different make. I only hope someone at A/S can get their act together.

The problem with complaining to AS is that they start from the standpoint of being right and their arrogance doesn't allow them to consider that the customer might have a valid point. There's only so much of that attitude a customer can take before voting with his/her wheels and wallet.

Re: Mid week motorhomefun
I thought Alan Curry had moved from customer service to quality manager and things had improved lately as we haven't had a 'not fit for purpose' thread for a while.
On a Facebook group recently I got into an argument with a member after someone complained that AS service dept were so busy that they were fully booked for two months. I commented that if they were better built then the service dept wouldn't be so busy fixing them. This member responded by saying he worked there and the workers were proud of what they do and 'his part' of installing floors was perfect. I pointed out the list of regular faults of pumps, panels, fridges and of course these were all supplied by outside companies and not AS fault. I responded with 'overhead lockers coming away', but of course I was 'clutching at straws'. The thread was removed. Reading that thread on Fun , none of the faults are from outside suppliers.

Re: Mid week motorhomefun
What seems rather bizarre is the cutlery drawer/hab door issue was raised as an issue early last year and (if memory serves) AS said they were going to address it. Is this a last years model being sold as new or a pre-reg vehicle? Regardless of the "quality" of workmanship, this is a serious design fault and should have been rectified by AS.

I read it too, it does make you wonder how you can have such an obvious design flaw. Do A/S not monitor these forums?

Its not just the door, the drawers have come off the runners and the bed slides have come apart shedding ball bearings.

Re: Mid week motorhomefun
If they are still using the same bedslides as a few years ago I had to replace one of mine as all the bearings came out, the originals were of the cheapest quality. I bought much better ones of the same size and fitted those. Not just A/S but all vans these days seem to be built down to the cheapest cost. You hear the same story for just about every manufacturer.

Re: Mid week motorhomefun
Reading these regularly occurring threads about the build quality of current production AutoSleepers along with Sargent control panel issues, etc. vindicates my decision to spend fairly large amounts of money over the past few years to keep the base vehicle on my 2002 Pollensa going, since the habitation conversion has easily stood the test of time.
The control 'panel' consists of a modular set of separate switches, relays, etc which I can repair or replace as required. I have a simple 'hole-in-the-wall' fresh water fill point, the water heater and space heater are two separate appliances so if one fails the other still works, although apart from a small leak on the Truma Ultrastore (which I repaired myself) I have managed to maintain these with few problems
-touch wood! which is easy because all my Pollensa inside doors are - real wood!
Comparing quality with current prices, there's no way we would update to a current model.

Re: Mid week motorhomefun
I hadn't seen the MHF thread before but the photo of the cutlery drawer makes it look worse than it is on my motorhome. My drawer comes out between 7 1/8 and 7 1/4 inches before it hits the door handle. This is not ideal but it does allow access to the drawer's contents with the door shut.

This is a comment on Fun....
The owners' forum, ASOF, has a dated but useful forum if you need more brand-specific insight.
I find it so much easier to navigate than Fun

I couldn't understand that comment either. Was it by our favourite non-AS owner?

Our favourite non-AS owner is known by a different name over there which i know. I did wonder if the whole thread had been started by him as the OP lives in same county, Somerset but the OP registered there back in March .PLOUGHLIN wrote:I couldn't understand that comment either. Re: Mid week motorhomefun
When we were buying our Warwick brand new, the salesman gave us a long tour of the van, both in and out.
I am sure any such problems we hopefully would have found out.
Well done Dolphin Motorhomes and sorry the demo took over an hour, but you made a sale

Re: Mid week motorhomefun
I'm afraid I am in the same camp with regard to quality, my AS has been pretty poor as I have already commented on, this is my first motorhome and one I have spent the last 7 years saving for - last night I almost gave up but I shut the door for a while and went and changed the water in my fish tank.
