Fresh water pump
Just recently bought a VW T4 Topaz and having problems with the water pump - it makes a noise, but nothing is working. My big problem ( and please forgive me if it is blindingly obvious!) is finding the pump. I can definitely hear it and the manual suggests it is behind one of the offside cupboards , but as for actually finding it........
Any clues would be much appreciated and then I can move on to the next stage!
Thanks
Peter

Hi Peter,
Not familiar with the whereabouts of your Pump but if you put “Water Pump” in the search box (top right) you might find the answer to your problem without getting at the Pump …. Lots of info there
Brian

water pump
Hi PJ,
I have had a look back as far as August last year with no luck, but if you ring Mark at Autosleepers, telephone 01386853511 and give him the job number which you will find in the glove box in the cab, he will be able to tell you where it is and how to get at it.

Re: Fresh water pump
If anything like our Symphony, the pump is indeed behind an offside cupboard. In our Symphony it is underneath the false floor in the bottom cupboard under the cooker, the floor simply lifts out to reveal the pump.

Thanks all for all the information - I'll follow up on all the leads and, as it is there definitely there somewhere, I'll post a reply with pics when I have found it!
Cheers

fresh water pump location Topaz
Hi all
It was in the end pretty obvious! Water pump is in rear offside cupboard ( in bathroom compartment) underneath a panel in the cupboard floor - earlier I assumed this panel was not removable and thought there was no space beyond the end of the gas cylinder compartment.
Now for a new pump, as parts seem almost as expensive as a new pump

Re: Fresh water pump
Hi,
Before buying a new pump make sure that the water tank is completely full, see if you can suck water into the pump by turning on the nearest tap and sucking hard with the pump running, you can also see if you can take off the pipe the water comes out of and pour a bit of water in to prime it, sometimes the pump valves get stuck and if you can get some water in they free off. If you can feel air coming out of a tap there may be a leak on the suction side of the pump,
Regards,
Chris

Water pump
Hi PJ,
Another posibility is that some pumps have a filter on them make sure it is not blocked.

Re: Fresh water pump
The Topaz automatically fills the hot water tank, why is silly. If the drain plug is open all the water escapes onto the floor through the boiler.

Re: Fresh water pump
Hi Again Peter,
Sorry if I did not express myself very clearly in my earlier post …..
(Quote “you might find the answer to your problem without getting at the Pump …. Lots of info there” ) is that it might not be a Pump problem at all !!
This subject (Not getting water through the taps) has been discussed many times, and all with happy endings, I think
Hope this helps
Brian

How does the panel come out (does it just lift out) ?
In mine there are two small white sections in the floor of the cupboard. Tbe rear one lifts out to reveal the charger, but the front one does not seem to want to move.
