Re: Caravan Club
Only you can decide. What I consider a benefit, eg ease of booking process with no deposits, you may view as a drawback, eg difficulty in booking availability. Where I see pomposity and inefficiency in their manner and ways of communication, you may see normality or even humour.
Both major clubs have immaculate sites and I suggest studying their websites, including booking/cancellation T&Cs and prices, before making a decision. We're all different and have varying requirements.

Victor, have a look through this thread. It's a topic that comes up regularly and you will get as many arguments for as against.

Re: Caravan Club
Both major clubs have discount arrangements with all sorts of retail and service companies, you can soon get your membership costs back if you make use of the discounts from batteries from Tayna , outdoor clothes from Mountain Warehouse and Cotswold, tyres and MOT at National Tyres etc etc.

No problem, you can check the web pages of both to get an idea of their site locations. Some will suggest they are close to a town or city but could, in reality, be 5 or 6 miles away. For what it's worth we are in both.

Re: Caravan Club
Different people have different preferences and views. Here in N. Ireland the camping and caravan club has 3 district associations and a Motorhome section. This means that on any weekend in season I have the choice of 4 meet ups quite cheaply. There is also one club site. The caravan and Motorhome club have one section and no club site.
A lot depends on wether you intend to use club sites only. In that case the number of sites and small 5 van sites (certified location/sites) each organisation has to offer may sway your decision.
Have a look at this thread on temporary holiday sites (which are often on a field with a water tap, waste facilities and little else, but cheap and this year might be a saver since it is anticipated that most proper sites (club and commercial) could be very busy. THSs are for C&CC members only and normally no booking is required.

The other way to find out is to join each club for a year over the next few years and see which appeals most to your needs. As Paul indicated there are other benefits such as ferry discounts, shop discounts and for me The C&CC link with the RAC Arrival breakdown for Europe is a big plus.

Re: Caravan Club
As you see this debate will go on adinfinitum, both clubs having merit. We have been in the Caravan (& Motorhome) Club for around 35 years and the C&CC for about 30 years.
The main difference we see are rallies. Under Normal Circumstances and Operation the C&MC require booking for local rallies. In the main the C&CC dont for either local rallies or the very popular Temp Holiday Sites, so you can decide at short notice to go on one. The other thing Davy mentions is C&CC sections, you are entitled to go on these also with the C&CC
