Re: CV Vaccine
Also 12 weeks since first vaccines were given so second doses now due, since capacity to vaccinate is finite nonsurprise that number of first doses administered is reduced.
No hidden agenda, this and supply issues have been flagged at daily Scottish briefings for several weeks now. Forecast timetables have taken into account so overall targets should still be achieved.

I don't understand why the numbers vaccinated should start off quite low on Monday, then ramp up during the week . . . as has been happening just recently??

Is 150,000 in a day really quite low, compared to other countries that is still a remarkable number that should be applauded.

My thoughts as well. I wrote to the Times to tell them.!
150,000 done on Monday!!!.
Are we holding back for the EU to catch up?
This has been happening for weeks.

Read my earlier posts.
We have 80,000 able to give a jab.So you are happy at 2 a day?
Forget about other countries ,our figures in this pandemic are one of the worse. We have to do better.

Re: CV Vaccine
I think it’s probably due to reporting issues over the weekend. The number is not the number actually administered in the day but the additional vaccination reported on national vaccine database by midnight the day before. So what you see on Monday is what has been added on Sunday.Gromit wrote:I don't understand why the numbers vaccinated should start off quite low on Monday, then ramp up during the week . . . as has been happening just recently??
The same dip happens every week and also happens to the number of deaths and reported cases.
It’s best not to get too concerned about individual days but look at the trend.
Having said that the number is lower that previous Mondays, and the average 7 day figures have been falling probably due to the reported supply issues others have mentioned.
They are still doing a fantastic job and should be applauded for it in my opinion.

Spot on. I think it is a reporting issue. Infections and deaths are always lower on a Monday. Incidentally I look forward to the time we don’t get these figures quoted to us relentlessly each day. I sometimes think we get information overload. I think we should go for the North Korean model.....nil deaths and applaud Boris at every appearance.Mike187 wrote:

Changing the subject slightly and continuing with North Korean theme, I went to a talk a couple of years ago from a guy who spent a lot of time there. You might have noticed when Yung Chung ill or whatever his name is, goes on a visit looking at the latest wondrous industrial achievement, he is followed by men with books in their hand. They are taking notes of his every utterance, so that these pearls of wisdom can be disseminated to all and sundry, for their education. Not many know that and sorry for going off topic.

Its daily jab figures.
Mondays are always low gradually building up to Sat which is double!!
Then we start again on a low monday and build up to Saturday.
Week after week.
Lets work all week at Sat rate and get these jabs done.!!
Today its reported that Prof Lockdown suggests road map to freedom be accelerated.
Tory MP's blast PM (lack of urgency) is too high a price for Pubs and Business.
My sentiments as well.

Dont know what happened with that extra reply.?
However news Just announced Its a supply problem.!
Should be sorted next month.
Why cannot we just work Monday to Friday if jabs are short?
And have similar daily figures?
I think its a mess.
Meanwhile the wait goes on.

Re: CV Vaccine
Well we finally gave up waiting to hear from our local GP services, so called them. After hanging on the phone for 40 minutes we were informed that our town is one where they've been told by central government to cease vaccinating 65-69 year olds in favour of the next group, 16+ with underlying problems. No one was going to inform us of this.
We've now booked at a vaccination centre, the nearest available is 25 miles away.

Re: CV Vaccine
Was digging through daily stats, Angus is one of the best performing Scottish areas for Covid vaccination and for Scotland as a whole 90% of 65-70 vaccinated so far, and 28% of 60-65 (my age bracket) and was thinking that it shouldn't be too long till I get the call.....then my phone rang, appointment at my GP surgery on Tuesday morning next week. Nice positive start to March.

We're in the same age bracket. Our surgery rang on Wednesday pm, both booked in for Sunday afternoon. Hooray. It's my wife's birthday on Saturday so a nice birthday present the day after.

Just shy of 20 million vaccinated now, no matter how you look at it. whether you like the way it is reported or not, that is fantastic going in such a short period of time. Depending on whose numbers you believe that is roughly 10 times the number in France. Well done to everyone involved!

Numerous emails asking "I've had my Covid Jab, can I ...."
The answer "No, you can not"

Professional bodies have made it clear in the past for flu vaccine that it is considered a professional obligation to be vaccinated in order to protect your patients.
During my 40 years working in healthcare I was always keen to be at the front of the queue for any vaccine offered and couldn't understand why clinically and scientifically trained colleagues didn't accept vaccination

Bilbobaggins, if you don't mind me asking , as you have said you have worked in the health care setting for 40 years. Why do you think this time so many don't want to have any covid vaccine?
20% has been mentioned I think somewhere, that seems a lot.
No problem if you do not want to post your views here on the forum.

Re: CV Vaccine
Trying to avoid accusations of prejudice it is an unfortunate truth that significant percentage of the lower echelons of the NHS are from ethnic minorities (the NHS can't run without them)
The problem is the BAME community is where most opposition seems to be.
The main contradiction is that the active "anti-vaxers" that I see on the news are almost exclusively white.

Re: CV Vaccine
My son is, and has been, working in the front line in a Covid ward since the start of the pandemic. As far as he knows, there gas been no resistance to getting the vaccine by any of his colleagues. He got his first dose fairly early in the roll out. The only complaint that he and his colleagues share is that they felt, given their daily proximity to very ill patients, they should not have had to wait 12 weeks for the second shot. Under the circumstances I don't think that was an unreasonable complaint.
